The Ceramics program at SDSU is pleased to present an exhibition of work by Professor Mikyoung Kim, SDSU Visiting Research Scholar in ceramics during this past year, from the Department of Ceramic Art at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, Korea. She is a noted mold-maker and ceramist who uses a wide variety of ceramic techniques in her work. She has made a pinched vessel for every day that she has been at SDSU, and will exhibit 100 of these in the Everett G. Jackson Gallery at SDSU, along with several other sculptural forms. Please join us in celebrating a wonderfully successful year of residency for Prof. Mikyoung Kim.

The exhibition “One Year Memory” will be held in the Everett G. Jackson Gallery at SDSU from April 29 through May 6, and will be open during the 2016 Open Studio night on May 5. There will be an opening reception on Friday night, April 29.

Cathedrals: Jeff Ray
Apr 07, 2016 – Jun 12, 2016 at the Downtown Gallery
Opening Reception April 7, 6 – 8 pm

Cathedrals is a site-specific, multi-sensory installation by San Francisco Bay-area artist, Jeff Ray. The exhibition continues Ray’s exploration of the intersection between nature and architecture. He reimagines familiar surroundings and structures such as cathedrals and coastal bunkers as monuments, taking us on a journey from reality to imagination. Cathedrals pairs photographic and video works with original music compositions by Jeff Ray, in collaboration with the SDSU Composition Laboratory, under the direction of Professor Joseph Waters, Ph.D., coordinator of Composition Studies (Acoustic & Electro-Acoustic) in the School of Music and Dance.
