Chris Ruhl, Chef
Born and raised in Monterey, Chris found his passion for the kitchen early in life. Always fascinated by the spices in his home pantry.
At 21, he attended Cal Poly Pomona and received a Bachelorβs of Science in Hospitality Management. Chris then applied and was admitted to the CIA at Greystone where he trained for a year at the school and then worked for a year as a Cook and Manager.
He moved to San Diego in 2016 and landed a job working at Trust Restaurant, the first restaurant he had ever worked at. He opened Fort Oak in Mission Hills as the sous chef 3 years later. A year later, Chris returned to Trust as the executive sous chef. Trust is a New American restaurant with a wood-only fired grill, hand made pasta, and modern takes on classic flavor combinations. We cook with bold flavors, lots of pickled vegetables and textures.
