First Friday Fusion is a fusion event in San Diego for dancers to express themselves without the constraints of any one specific dance style. This space was born out of the desire to bring dancers from different backgrounds together in shared expression.

Here's our DJ lineup for First Friday Fusion!

8:30pm-10:30pm: DJ Mollusk!
DJ Mollusk has been dancing for nearly a decade, starting with east coast swing and branching out from there. She views dance as an avenue for creative expression, and takes inspiration from the wide range of music genres that make fusion so engaging. Her hope is that each dancer takes a spark of dance joy from her set!

10:30pm-12:30pm: DJ Gale Bruell!
After a childhood of ballet and an adolescence of musical theater and modern dance, Gale was introduced to social dancing via Lindy Hop. He discovered Fusion in 2023 and fell in love with its freedom and complexities. In his fusion dancing he likes to incorporate his experience with West Coast Swing, Contact Improv, and Soul line dancing.
Over the course of his first year in the dance community, he progressed from a regular volunteer to an organizer, including DJing and teaching Lindy Hop. THis marks his Fusion DJ Debut! He brings his love of American music history to his fusion sets, especially blues and soul classics, and endeavors to keep things fresh with new finds and unexpected genres.

Admission: $15

Hello everyone!
On the first Friday of every month we will be dancing fusion to our heart's content from 8:30PM to 12:30AM. There is NO LESSON for this month. We will have two Dus throughout the night, bringing you a variety of music to dance to. Our venue, Centro Cultural de la Raza, has free parking across the street, beautiful wood floors, and a great atmosphere.

Here's our instructor and DJ lineup for First Friday Fusion!

8:30pm-9:30pm: Lesson with Brittany Wood and Sarah Luccini!
Brittany Wood was first exposed to partner dancing when her oldest brother took her to her first Lindy Hop dance in Golden Gate Park when she was 14. From that day on, she was hooked. In the next few years, she eagerly sought out more swing dance opportunities. A couple of years later in 2012 when she was starting college, she discovered Fusion & Blues Dancing at house parties and fell in love with the intimate, present connection. She later ventured into West Coast Swing as well and currently has been exploring the world of Argentine tango. She dances both roles and she believes that all dancers would benefit from learning to lead and follow.

9:30pm-11:00pm: DJ Gale!

11:00pm-12:30pm: DJ Alethia!
One faithful day in 2015 Alethia was dragged along by her best friend to a social dance event and the rest, as they say, is history. Since then Alethia has collected a long list of music and “dance favorites” that’ll get anyone on their feet and dancing. Her sets include a wide variety of Turquoise, Electro pop, R&B, and Triphop.

Hello everyone!

On the first Friday of every month we will be dancing fusion to our heart’s content from 8:30PM to 12:30AM. Our event will start with an hour class from 8:30PM to 9:30PM with an instructor every month, followed by social dancing from 9:30PM to 12:30AM. We will have two DJs throughout the night, bringing you a variety of music to dance to.
