Raised in Kunitachi City Tokyo JAPAN, his father was a classical tenor singer. He began playing the piano at a young age and became deeply immersed in jazz during his school years, often transcribing music from TV shows and other sources. He moved to the United States in the early 1990s, studied at the New England Conservatory, and then relocated to New York. He later joined the ranks of musicians such as David Byrne, George Russell, and Arto Lindsay. Naturally active in classical and jazz, he also became highly active in the fields of electronic and dance music from the late 1990s onward, handling trumpet and synth for groups such as Organic Grooves and Jojo Mayer’s Nerve. In recent years, he has also produced numerous Sci-Fi Dub Noir sounds. Other session work includes collaborations with Coco Rosie, Brooklyn Gypsies, Oyasaba, Lee Perry, GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, Marc Ribot, Laurie Anderson, Brazilian Girls, Vinicius Cantuaria, Quincy Jones, The Streets, and Billie Holiday...
