This past year while I was living with my parents, Dad went to a lot of movies with me, often seeing movies he had absolutely no desire to see, but they were also movies Mom will never watch because of too much action or violence. Mom likes comedies, family dramas, and feel good movies. Dad likes action movies and westerns, but he does not like animated, science fiction or superhero movies, but he went to many of them this past year with me. But, he would make his opinion very clear about them before and after, for instance he said about Captain Marvel: “That’s the worst movie I’ve seen in my life.” 🤦🏼♂️😂 That’s a movie review I’ve heard from him many times, but the thing is: he went to those movies for me. He’s done a lot of stuff like that for me over the years — my earliest similar recollection is him taking me to The Muppet Movie as a child, and I’ve heard about his dislike of that movie many times in my adulthood. The last movie we saw together was John Wick 3, and he enjoyed that a lot. I’m a big Keanu Reeves fan, so I’m thankful one of Keanu’s films was our last movie together and that Dad enjoyed it. Tomorrow afternoon, I’m speaking at Dad’s funeral. I’ve had a very difficult time with public speaking due to my own health struggles and neurological speech troubles these past eight years, but it’s something I need and want to do for him and for me. So, I’d appreciate prayer for that for sure. Thanks for all the love and support for our family at this difficult time. Never Give Up. @ Morganton, North Carolina
