It’s come that time- property management co. “Cal-Prop” by name is pushing lil ol’ Animal Cracker Conspiracy out of our deep storage garage after 10 years of paying ever increasing rent(it doubled!)- I guess they can see dollar signs, and don’t feel we are
Up to paying what it’s now worth in SD’s magically inflating market 😞 so we are looking for another- does anyone out there have around 10’x20’ of secure dry easily accessible space that you aren’t using and would like to help out a puppet company serving the overall goal of keeping the arts alive in San Diego! PS come see our new show for free at La Jolla Playbouse’s Without Walls Festival on UCSD Campus April 4, 5, 6, at 8:30/8/8pm respectively- come early to make a lantern- to be announced this week in the WOW festival site

Location: San Diego, CA
Course fee: $650 (some assistance available for artists in need)

This 10-day masterclass will be led by international artist Andrew Kim of Thingumajig Theatre who will lead a group of artists in making 2 giant lantern puppets. Course will include hands-on experience in design, mechanisms, LED lighting, sculpture, tissue paper, Worbla (thermoplastic), foam, painting, costume making and performance. Class will be held at Animal Cracker Conspiracy’s workshop a.k.a. “The Wonder Box”. There will also be opportunity to meet other puppet makers from Animal Cracker Conspiracy and to see a number of puppets up close. Participants will be a part of the debut performance featuring the new puppets on March 10th.

The two giant puppets will be retained by Animal Cracker Conspiracy.
