Last Sunday, November 19, friends and family of AMSDconcerts gathered in a church in San Diego, to celebrate the life and legacy of Carey Lawrence Driscoll, founder and tireless promoter, director and cheerleader for his prodigious series of popular acts, as well as what was very likely overlooked and under appreciated music.
Having the memorial at a church as anyone who ever attended an AMSD concert knows, was a fitting venue for Carey’s loved ones, as well as his closest, and most loyal group of volunteers on the planet, to gather and give thanks for what he gave to San Diego.
Ann Costello, Carey’s loving right-hand stanchion of support, gave a sweet, heart-felt reminiscence of Carey, and personally thanked the loyal AMSD volunteers by name, for their years of help and service.
Patrick Carney, AMSD’s Resident Artist spoke about his initial introduction to Carey and AMSD, and how he ended up, at every show, helping organize as well as displaying his marvelous artworks to make the shows even more enjoyable.
There was an outstanding concert presented by folk singer-songwriter Ellis Paul, who Carey loved! It seems it was a mutual admiration society, given the enjoyable stories and banter Mr. Paul shared with the attendees, with Carey’s frequent admonishing of concert goers for not coming to enough of his concerts, iliciting lots of giggles from the audience.
