Kappa, the Japanese Mythical Creature Devouring Disobedient Childrenđšđšđš
-The Kappa is a water demon that lives in rivers and lakes and eats disobedient young children, according to traditional Japanese folklore. The Kappa, whose name means "river child," is typically portrayed as having a tortoise-like body, a frog's beak, and limbs, as well as having a hole filled with water on top of his head. Despite being essentially aquatic species, it is thought that they occasionally travel ashore.
When the Kappa leaves the water, it is said that his powers will vanish unless the head cavity is kept moist. One of Japan's most well-known folk tales is the Kappa, and many people think the fantastical being actually exists.
