🤔 Did you know sea lion pups aren’t born knowing how to swim? Giving them space allows our pups to rest and prevents them from drowning before they’re ready. Let them grow big and strong by giving them space all year long!

📣Report harassment to NOAA: if you see someone disturbing seals or sea lions (looking up, growling, moving away) or attempting to pet or injure an animal: Call the NOAA hotline to report the situation as this constitutes harassment under the MMPA

✨ Sunbeams underwater are fascinating to watch. The way it bends around corners and filters through particles, shaping our marine ecosystems and providing the very essence of life for coral reefs, kelp forests, and algae.

🧜🏽‍♀️ Come and see my mersisters and I swimming at the Mississippi Aquarium at the end of September!

Their representative had A LOT to say I can tell you that much 👀

Excuse me if my sea lion speak is rusty, but to keep the translation short the sea lions want space to rest and give birth. Their species rep says that it’s the human with the title of mayor that needs to keep nosy people from harassing their kind every day. In return, they will still be ambassadors of the ocean, help build respect for wildlife, and continue to be as cute as possible if the humans can enforce better management of the cove🙂‍↕️

📖 To give you some context, my friend and I were filming when we were photo (video?) bombed by this playful raft of sea lions who approached us.

🫱🏻‍🫲🏽 There’s so much more I could get into about this, but the matter of the fact is that before La Jolla cove is overrun by people disrespecting our wildlife, it must be protected before we can create policies to coexist. And before someone else goes viral for kicking another sea lion in the face 😒

👏 The committee passed a notion to send a letter to parks and rec requesting keeping the cove opened, but to close the stairs during pupping season, allowing only swimmers to enter!

🧪 Diane Kane’s working group is inviting local scientists and citizens to document and acquire solid numbers to support the protection of our pinnipeds. Email [email protected] for info!

🐟 The overpopulation of sea lions is a myth. Their numbers will only reach a point that will level off as environmental resources will allow which naturally caps population size, specifically their food (look up carrying capacity).

🫧Sending you light and bubble magic your way 😉🫧

💖 My absolute favorite part of performing as a mermaid is looking back at clips of both kids and adults unable to contain themselves jumping with excitement! Whether it’s their first or fifth time visiting us, their absolute joy warms my heart and can even be felt through the glass 💙

💖 I’m excited to be performing with again in Mississippi at the end of September! Swim by and say shello 👋🏽
