Persian Place is excited to bring the magical world of the Shahnameh (Book of Kings) to the Oceanside Museum of Art as part of its Art for All program.

Inspired by Ferdowsi’s legendary Persian epic, this family friendly experience explores the fascinating world of real animals and legendary creatures found in the Shahnameh and Persian mythology.

Art and craft stations will invite children and adults to create their own creatures inspired by Persian epic stories.

Enjoy a joyful celebration of Persian culture through music, dance, art, and crafts! Participants of all ages will explore cultural heritage, discover the power of storytelling, and bring their own imaginative creatures to life.

Free and open to all!

Let’s take a look back at some beautiful moments from San Diego Design Week 2026!

On September 19, Persian Place, in collaboration with the Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA), had the honor of bringing Designing Our Spaces to the NewSchool of Architecture & Design.

This year, with a special focus on hands-on workshops, we explored creativity through Persian tile art, calligraphy, and woodblock printing. Huge thanks to Sasha Furlan, Marty Ornish and Yasaman Mostajeran for sharing their talents and inspiring our community!

We were also honored to showcase the beautiful collections of two amazing artists, Maryam Bayat and Shirin Aghdaei as part of the exhibit.

We are proud to bring Persian art to San Diego Design Week and create meaningful connections through art, textiles, and collaboration.

Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and I feel so lucky that through Persian Place, I met such an amazing friend from the Indigenous community.

We have already shared so many beautiful projects together, and I am truly grateful that our paths crossed. Here’s to many more meaningful moments and collaborations ahead!

Persian Place was so happy to be part of SD Design Week this year, bringing Persian art and design to the community through hands-on workshops and exhibitions.

We also created a collaborative art project in partnership with Visions Textile Museum of Art, bringing our ideas, traditions, and creativity together.

I truly love what I do at Persian Place, and I am so grateful for my amazing team.

Persian Place is part of San Diego Design Week 2026!

Join us on September 19, 10 AM–5 PM, at the NewSchool of Architecture & Design.

From Persian tile design and intricate calligraphy to traditional woodblock printing and textile design, discover the beauty of Persian art through hands-on creative workshops , an exhibitions, and a collaborative community project, in collaboration with the Visions Museum of Textile Art.

This year’s theme, Design for Everyone, invites all of San Diego to get closer to the creativity shaping how we live, work, connect, and experience the world around us.
