Job Title: Assistant Stage Manager (ASM)
Company Name: Cabrillo Playhouse

Compensation: $600.00 per production

Position Overview
Cabrillo Playhouse is seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for our upcoming 2026/2027 Season. Reporting to the Artistic Director (AD), Stage Manager (SM) and the Director, the ASM assists with all logistical and technical aspects of the production from pre-production through closing performances.

Key Responsibilities
Rehearsal Support: Set up and clean the rehearsal room daily, track props and practicals, and "be on book" to prompt actors and record blocking when requested.
Paperwork: Help create and maintain production documentation, including prop lists, preset charts, etc.
Backstage Running: Manage backstage traffic, track costume quick-changes, and execute safe scenic shifts during tech rehearsals and performances.
Show Maintenance: Maintain the artistic integrity of the show during the run, supervise crew assignments, and assist with strike/load-out.

Qualifications & Skills
Previous stage management or ASM experience in a theatrical environment.
Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm, focused, and adaptable under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with cast and crew.
Must be available for all rehearsals, tech runs, and performances, including evenings and weekends.

In honor of the incredibly talented, amazing, witty performer that is Tim Curry, here's a look back at all of the productions of The Rocky Horror Show that we have done over the years (2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024).

Tim Curry's energy and spirit were always present at our performances and we're grateful for the legacy he left with not only his role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, but all of his other iconic roles as well.

Meet Patrick McMahon, one of the talented actors in Around the World in 80 Days!

Patrick is elated to return to Cabrillo Playhouse after last being seen as George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life and is always excited to perform once again with his wife Tiffany! A psychotherapist by day, Patrick trained in theatre at Pomona College, as well as the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood. Favorite past roles include Jekyll & Hyde, Salieri in Amadeus, Emile in South Pacific, George in Same Time, Next Year, Leo/Maxine in Leading Ladies, Tito/Beppo in A Comedy of Tenors, Shaw Moore in Footloose, and Count Dracula. Tiffany is thrilled to be back onstage at the Cabrillo Playhouse performing in this zany show, with this fun cast including her amazing husband, Patrick. You may recognize Tiffany from some of her prior shows here at the Cabrillo Playhouse including, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Comedy of Tenors, Leading Ladies, Painting Churches, Love Letters, Same Time Next Year and The Last 5 Years. Meet Richard MacPherson, one of the talented actors in Around the World in 80 Days!

Aloha! Richard has lived in San Clemente for the past two years. This will be his third production at the Cabrillo Theater. He played Sydney Redlith in Bell Book and Candle and Mr. Potter in It’s a Wonderful Life. He’s been a member of SAG/AFTRA for forty years. As a stage actor he’s played Oscar Wilde, Heisenberg, JFK, Sherlock Holmes, Gandalf, Atticus Finch and Dracula. In addition he taught English and Drama for the Department of Education in Hawaii.

Makayla is excited to make her debut at Cabrillo Playhouse! She is currently completing her studies in Drama at UCI. While her primary focus is acting, she also has a passion for lighting and sound design, as well as stage management. In her free time, she enjoys working with kids, making music, and figuring out how to refer to herself in the third person.
