Our Artist Of The Week is !
Described as the “darker” and “more unhinged” version of his Ghastly moniker, GHENGAR has evolved into something more feral, more breakneck and more aggressive than we ever thought possible.
GHENGAR’s metamorphosis has spanned the last several years. Today, he’s established himself as an underground cult leader, etching his masked persona into our collective memory. Having cemented his rightful place in the tearout genre, GHENGAR has seemingly reached his final interdimensional form.
Over the course of just one month, the GHENGAR project reached unparalleled momentum. In late April, he dropped his tearout mix series, ‘GNARCADE VOL. 1,’ in addition to making his Forbidden Kingdom debut. It was during this set that GHENGAR truly raised the bar, with his performance igniting one of the biggest mosh pits at the festival.
Incredibly, GHENGAR’s Forbidden Kingdom set was only the pre-game. His following set at EDC Las Vegas was one of the most talked-about bass music performances of the weekend thanks to his chaotic yet undeniable stage presence. Needless to say, the crowd matched the fervor GHENGAR brought to the stage. So much so that GHENGAR gave out a custom mask to the fan with the most energy during the set. He proceeded to absolutely demolish his ILLfest set this past weekend.
Festival hype aside, the artist continues to cook up chaos in the studio as well. His track with Chassi, ‘AUTOPSY BUFFET,’ recently graced the cover of the honorable Dubstep Don playlist on Spotify. The track marks GHENGAR’s second release of the year, and it appears he’s only just getting started.
Fans looking to experience the sheer pandemonium of a GHENGAR set will have several opportunities to do so this summer.
Following this weekend’s set at Beyond Wonderland Festival in Chicago, the artist will break new ground in Asia.
From there, GHENGAR will make a brief return to the States for his headline set at SILO in Dallas, TX on 7/17. Without skipping a beat, he’s set to kick off a generational run on the festival circuit with performances planned for Tomorrowland, Bass Canyon, Wobbleland and Lost Lands.
