Due to unforeseen circumstances and severe inclement weather tomorrow, we will be postponing the Six Flags Trip. The new date for the trip is to be determined. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep you updated with any new information.

Here is the itinerary for the band trip this Thursday. Please keep in mind that Six Flags is cash free, so if you would like to spend money at the park, you must use a card or tap to pay. We will also be stopping at Buccees on the way home.

This past weekend our 7th and 8th grade band students had the opportunity to compete in our District Solo and Ensemble contest. Each student prepared a solo piece to perform for one of the judges. Out of 31 competing students, 8 of them recieved a first division (superior) rating fom the judges. This is the highest rating you can recieve in any form of Band contest. Those students are as follows.

Serenity Coots (Baritone)
Aaron Feathers (Clarinet)
Londyn Wilson (Clarinet)
Sparkle Wade (Clarinet)
Hadley Gibbs (Trumpet)
LaKelsey Lacy (Alto Sax)
Gage Currey (Tuba)
KJ Jones (Prcussion)

In addition to these 8 superior ratings, 8 students also recieved a second division (good) rating.

This past weekend two of our San Augustine Military Marching Band members participated in the Region 21 ATSSB All-Region Clinic and Concert in Tyler, Texas. This is a very prestigious event where band students from over 30 schools prepare audition music and play for a panel of judges comprised of band directors from the area. These students earned their place in their respective All-Region bands at the auditions in December.
Bentley Vetal (left) earned a seat in the East Zone Middle School All-Region band competing against 20 Tenor Saxophone players. Josh Oglesby (right) earned a seat in the High School Concert All-Region band competing against 117 Trombone players. Congratulations to these two outstanding young men on their accomplishments!

Both of these students worked very hard competing against hundreds of students from schools all over East Texas!
