42nd Annual Zoobilation Ball, South Texas Splendor, presented by Ashley and Conner Quintanilla, made for a simply splendid night at San Antonio Zoo! This event, benefiting our mission to L.E.A.P. for wildlife, raised over $2 million for the 3rd year in a row! Thank you to our many supporters, volunteers, partners, and Zoo Crew who came together to make this incredible night possible.

San Antonio Zoo has achieved national acclaim as the #3 Best Zoo by Newsweek, marking a historic milestone in its 110-year legacy and propelling the zoo into the national spotlight once again. The expert panel at Newsweek, followed by a public vote, recognized the zoo’s excellence shortly after it secured the 2024 Best Zoo in Texas award for the fifth time in six years (Texas Travel Awards) and the 2024 Best Family Attraction locally for five consecutive years (SA Current).

This is the second time in the last two years that San Antonio Zoo has been recognized as one of the Top 3 Zoos in the country. In 2023, Zoo Lights (the zoo’s holiday lights program) was also recognized as one of the best in the nation.

With the recent debut of a state-of-the-art Zoo Entrance, the upcoming unveiling of an expanded giraffe savanna, and the highly anticipated gorilla habitat (Congo Falls) and event center (The Ralston) set for 2025, San Antonio Zoo continues to redefine itself as a leading zoo nationwide. Honoring a Timeless Legacy: The Ralston "R"

Embark on a heartfelt journey behind The Ralston's iconic "R"—a symbol of family love and an unwavering dedication to conservation.

Within this symbol lies a sincere tale: Laurie Ann Ralston passed away much too early in 2020. We surprised Shannon and her family by using her mother's unique and beautiful "R", now etched as The Ralston, a testament to her legacy of togetherness and love.

Shannon, alongside her family and the Ralston Family Charitable Foundation, illuminates a path towards a brighter future for San Antonio Zoo and the community.

Join us in celebrating this profound connection to family as The Ralston legacy continues through this symbolic gesture at our new event center opening in 2025. Together, we honor the spirit of love and laughter and securing a future for wildlife, which unites us all.

Our community will forever be reminded of Laurie Ann Ralston, her love of family, and know that she mattered!
