It’s Val, from our RuneWave comic!!
---------
The Cinemarama employees hid behind the counter, faces pale, while customers pressed into corners and dark aisles, afraid to breathe. Somewhere nearby, something large floated and groaned, clumsily bumping another display and sending it crashing down.
Val slipped through the wreckage with a katana resting easy in her grip. The flickering glow of the overhead lights flashing off the blade. She cautiously moved down the aisle, calm and unhurried.... a crooked smirk fixed on her face. She wasn’t hunting. She was just there to calm the situation and make sure everyone stayed safe. Moments like this were dangerous, yeah, but they were also righteous fun.
She paused and peeked into the next aisle marked “Drama & Romance”. There, intently focused on VHS boxes and totally oblivious to the chaos it had caused, was a beholder! Its eyes scanned the spines, bored and unimpressed. It’s tentacles sorted through tapes, knocking them around as it browsed. “Movies used to mean something,” it grumbled. “Real stories. Real art.” One eye narrowed at a glossy box on the floor. “Now it’s all sequels and noise.”
Val’s smirk widened as she tightened her grip. “Peek-a-boo, you gnarly art-critic... Let’s talk cinema!”
