iLaCatrina® icon Wixárika, from the Astral México collection, honors the sacred symbolism and living traditions of the Wixárika people.

The hand painted blue deer represents spiritual guidance and the journey to Wirikuta. Her headdress incorporates the pe**te symbol, while the Tsikuri, or Ojo de Dios, reflects protection, prayer and connection.

Captured through the lens of Salim Proctor, bringing the details and symbolism of this icon into focus.

iLaCatrina®: Revolución

Revolución was created from the women, stories, and spirit of a Mexico that refused to stand still.

A Catrina that carries history differently. Feminine, commanding and unapologetically Mexican. Her beauty does not soften her strength, and her elegance does not separate her from the rebellion she represents.

She embodies the strength, resilience and determination of the women who lived, fought and helped shape a country in revolution.

Professional photography by Salim of Doc Shots Photography, whose extraordinary talent brings this Catrina to life with the strength and presence she represents.

La muerte no borra la historia.
Death does not erase history.

Fiestas Patrias are almost here, and just a little historical reminder as we celebrate: September 16 is about Mexican Independence.

This month let’s give the spotlight to Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Leona Vicario, Gertrudis Bocanegra, La Güera Domínguez, and the extraordinary women who were part of Mexico’s fight for Independence.

Come November, we’ll all be ready to bring out the braids, the cananas, and celebrate the Adelitas of the Mexican Revolution.

Different chapters of our history, each one worth remembering and celebrating.

iLaCatrina® Icon | REVOLUCIÓN

® brings the Mexican Revolution into motion through art, fashion and visual storytelling.

Catrina Revolución is portraying an original ensemble by renowned Mexican designer Armando Mafud, featuring his hand painted work “Revolucionarios.” The complete look is documented in Mafud’s retrospective book Por Siempre México, where it was modeled by Mexican actress and model Eugenia Cauduro.

Now reimagined through the visual storytelling of iLaCatrina®, the original ensemble becomes the foundation of Catrina Revolución honoring the people, history and revolutionary spirit that transformed Mexico.
