Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Announces Open Auditions for the Returning Play “Las Comadres de Morales St.” by Irene Chavez
SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 2, 2026) – The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) is pleased to announce open auditions for the much-anticipated return of the beloved stage production “Las Comadres de Morales St.” by playwright Irene Chavez and directed by Ruby Ruiz. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Guadalupe Latino Bookstore, located at 1300 Guadalupe St., San Antonio, TX 78207.
The production team is seeking performers to fill three key roles:
• “Don Julio” – Carmen’s boyfriend. Vietnam Veteran, age range 70–80, Male
• “Izzy” – Unemployed and divorced, age range 30–35, Male
• “Angel of Death” – Latina, any age, Female
“Las Comadres de Morales St.” is a cherished work that highlights the richness, resilience, and humor of our community. The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is proud to reintroduce this play to San Antonio audiences and invites actors who are committed to authentic storytelling to audition for these roles.
AUDITION PREPARATION
Prospective cast members are encouraged to bring a recent photo (head shot) and a performance résumé. While not required, it is recommended.
All auditions will be held in person at the Guadalupe Latino Bookstore, a landmark space dedicated to preserving and promoting Latino, Chicano, and Native America literary arts and culture located in San Antonio’s Westside.
