Hi MOPA members!

My name is Helen Smith and I am the MOPA President this school year. My orchestra kid is Maria Holland, an 11th grade violinist. My older daughter Isabel just graduated this past spring and was a Mac violinist as well. I wanted to reach out and say thanks so much for turning in your MOPA Membership Form and your dues. I look forward to working with you to support our orchestra kids.

My plan is to communicate with MOPA members through email. I hope you can attend meetings in person, but if you can't, I'll email the minutes. We had our first meeting on Monday Sept 22nd. Thank you to those that attended, coming in the pouring rain and thunder and lightening! I'll send the minutes out soon. During that meeting we talked about a few things Dr. Garverick and Ms. Loveland can use our help with in the near future:
Uniform Day is coming this Wednesday. We could use another mom to help with fitting the girls. Contact me if you are free to help.
There is a cello rack, several bass stools and a couple iPad stands that need to be assembled. Dr. Garverick and Ms. Loveland can be up at Mac on a Saturday if there are some parents able to help. If you're interested in helping with this handy task, please contact me.
For the first concert, we'll need a few MOPA parents to help with handing out programs and assisting audience members that need to use the elevator instead of the stairs. Contact me if you can help.
MOPA is in need of officers to run the organization. Right now, I am the only MOPA parent in an officer position. Most urgently, MOPA needs a treasurer. I am not great at handling money, so for everyone's sake, please help if you can.

Our next MOPA meeting is Monday September 19th at 6pm in the Mac Orchestra Room. Come in the front arch. One of the admins will be in the front office to buzz us in the gate.

Hello MOPA families. Please help find this bag. It was picked up at the senior showcase Friday night. It was left accidentally around the third or fourth row near the middle. In it was camera accessories but MOST IMPORTANTLY a camera card FILLED with Senior memories to date. Please return to Dr Garverick or to Mr. Hernandez. Thank you.

Our final meeting of the 2021-22 school year will be next Monday, May 9th at 5:00pm, in the orchestra room. Please note that is an hour earlier than we usually meet. We will welcome the incoming officers:

Hello Orchestra Families! While May is the last month of the school year, it is also one of the busiest for us. Here are a few important dates to remember:

Monday, May 9: Our final MOPA meeting of the year will be at 5:00pm, in the orchestra room.

Thursday, May 12: Concert: Freshman, JV and Cello Choir, 7pm

Friday, May 13: Concert: Mac Symphony Concert with Senior Soloists, 7pm

Monday, May 23: Varsity Orchestra performs at the Tobin Center, 7:30pm

Tuesday, May 24: Orchestra Banquet @ Alamo Café, 6:30pm

Saturday, May 28: State UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest in Austin

Monday, May 30: Graduation @ the Alamodome!

Tickets to hear our symphony perform together again for only $20, and the proceeds go directly to the musicians and to cover event expenses. 💜

The striking musicians of the San Antonio Symphony have announced they will perform two concerts March 3-4 at the First Baptist Church.
