‘Viva San Antonio. Viva Fiesta. Vote YES on Prop A & B.’ By Scott Chidgey
Let’s Break Down Prop A and B in Bexar County
Will my property taxes increase or be affected at all?
NO.
Will our daily city and county sales tax increase?
NO.
Where is the money coming from then?
From hotel and rental car taxes — what’s often called visitor taxes.
Now, I hear you… “Why can’t those funds go toward our First Responders, public safety, sidewalks, or other local needs?”
Because state law restricts how those specific taxes can be used. By law, they can only be spent on tourism, conventions, and projects that support the hospitality and entertainment industry.
So yes — visitors will be paying for the new Entertainment District in San Antonio, along with updates to the Frost Center, which will now serve as the year-round home of the Stock Show and Rodeo. They already bring in over $200 million in just a few weeks each year — imagine the economic impact they’ll have on San Antonio when operating year-round.
Take a very close look at Project MARVEL — and credit to Myrna Arthur on KSAT for laying out the facts over the past few years. It’s an ambitious and thoughtful plan that boosts multiple industries at once: tourism, sports, arts, conventions, and more.
And let’s talk about jobs. This project means thousands of new opportunities for San Antonians — from construction and event operations to hospitality, food service, entertainment, and tourism. Local vendors, small businesses, and service workers all stand to benefit from the year-round activity and increased visitor spending. It’s not just about building venues — it’s about building careers, supporting families, and keeping our city’s workforce thriving.
Our city leaders have done an impressive job putting this together — and it’s all designed to infuse money into San Antonio’s economy and workforce.
So come on, San Antonio — let’s keep that money here, working for us.
Let’s celebrate our visitors, our city, and our incredible local economy. This is what smart, sustainable investment looks like.
