Prison reform isn’t about excusing crime. It’s about asking whether our system is actually making society safer.

When people leave prison with no real treatment, no job path, no housing stability, and no support, we shouldn’t be surprised when many end up back inside.

Accountability matters. Victims matter. Public safety matters.

But if the goal is fewer victims and stronger communities, punishment alone can’t be the whole answer. Rehabilitation, mental health care, addiction treatment, education, and reentry support are not “soft on crime.” They are practical ways to reduce repeat crime.

A justice system should punish wrongdoing—but it should also create a meaningful path for people who are willing to change.

Real reform is not about letting people off. It’s about helping them come back better, so fewer people are harmed in the future.

Life sometimes changes direction in unexpected ways.

The same idea inspired a novel I’ve been writing called Farfalla.

It’s a story about transformation and power.

Here’s the trailer.

When pushing too hard stops working

For a long time, my response to difficulty was to push harder.
If something wasn’t working, I assumed I needed more effort. More discipline. Less hesitation. That approach had worked often enough that I rarely questioned it.

Eventually, it stopped helping.

What I missed was how easily pushing through turns into ignoring signals. Fatigue starts to look like weakness. Frustration becomes something to suppress instead of pay attention to. You keep going, but you stop adjusting.

I’ve learned that resilience isn’t always about endurance. Sometimes it’s about noticing when a strategy that once worked no longer does. The harder part isn’t continuing — it’s changing course without treating it as failure.

This showed up clearly in how I handled pressure around family. When things felt tense, I became more rigid. I thought structure would steady things. Often, it just narrowed the space for understanding.

What helped wasn’t backing away. It was learning to pause long enough to ask whether effort was still the right response. Strength doesn’t disappear when you stop pushing. Sometimes it becomes clearer.

I want to support someone who’s speaking honestly about long prison sentences and an unequal playing field in our justice system. These aren’t abstract issues — they affect real lives.
