It was pure pleasure seeing friends and faithful customers in Luling at the TMG Your Best Friend’s Closet market yesterday. As promised, here is my fall schedule of markets to come where I will continue to have specials for each one. Next up is Shop til You Drop at the Berry Center on Barker-Cypress Rd. in the greater Houston area. My specials will include all quillows and smocks for your holiday pre shopping pleasure. Plan now. The van is loaded and ready to roll east on Hwy 10 to Luling. I have been making a list for weeks since I committed to My Best Friend’s Closet market. On the list are the storage locations in my house of all manner of items I didn’t want to forget to take this weekend. I will have two tables of current inventory and two tables of former items all handmade. I’m beyond pleased that TMG has come up with this new idea that is a winner for shoppers and vendors alike. Rosie likes the towel aprons so she can wipe her gooey hands at any time and also have her cell phone right there in the pocket. Well, to bring you up to date, everyone at our house is well and healthy, and we are experiencing the “new normal”. We have had a kitchen update which has also kept me away from my machine and these posts. So I am pleased to be back with you.
Right now the Stitchery is completing some special orders. I know I have shown the tissue caddies recently, but let me give a shout out to Marsha who has ordered a group of them FOR BUNKO PRIZES! Great thinking, Marsha. If there are any other Bunko enthusiasts out there, take note. I can offer a bit of a discount by sending them empty which also keeps postage down. You get to choose your designs then fill them for a cute, handy prize. They are usually 2/$9 but empty multiples are $4 each plus postage and tax if applicable.
Also shown are the recently ordered memory aprons. It is difficult to show how really special these look unless someone is wearing them. The two without ruffles will go to gentlemen for grilling duties. The other two are the usual ruffled with button pocket details.
And waiting in the backstage area are the towels and fabric for 10 kitchen aprons with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas designs. A shoutout to Rosie who is thinking waaay ahead for holiday gifts…. And I appreciate that thought for the summertime lull before the busy fall season. If you have thoughts especially of memory aprons, now is a great time to contact me to get the ball rolling.

Although I’m not participating in many markets until fall, I am still here working on ideas you have or whatever you need as special orders. Waiting for pickup are these long and short bibs in princess designs for two special needs young girls. The neckline is smaller and there is a catch-all pocket on each. Arriving tomorrow are four shirts to turn into memory aprons. Watch for those to post as soon as they are done. Showing here is Jonnie in her husband’s shirt as a memory apron. With Fathers’ Day coming, how special would it be to give aprons to family and friends as a remembrance of a special father figure! And the final photo proves you don’t have to be female to enjoy the treat of wearing dad’s shirt. No ruffle, just memories. Just check in with me if you have any creative ideas that need production.

Abby has moved on to the top 5. That means this week only the number one person goes on to the finals and the number two’s go to a run off for a place in the finals. TODAY IS DOUBLE VOTE DAY. Please get your votes in today.
To introduce Abby to some of your family n friends for their vote too, let me tell you a couple little bits of info about her.
Abby teaches science to 108 fifth graders a day. She prepares projects for each of their science themes to enhance their interest, skills and information. She has a chameleon named Pascal and an axolotl named Artemis after the recent shuttle. Her students learn to respect all lifeforms and characteristics of how they live and survive.
Her students have told her she is the best science teacher they have had, and she has replied that her goal is to be the best science teacher they will ever have! Please vote each day for the next week to move Abby Carrillo into the finals of this best teacher competition.

Abby is in the top 5 competition as of today. I know this has been a long haul, but she needs the help to stay in it. Please keep voting, watch especially for the double point days, and please share and encourage others to participate.
Here is a copy of what she wrote when asked: I think it says volumes about her true dedication to teaching, her students, and science education in general.

Tell us why you became a teacher
I became a teacher because school was difficult for me growing up. As a child with ADD, learning to read was a challenge, and I wanted to help students who struggle like I once did. My grandmother, a fourth-grade teacher, inspired me with her patience and support as she helped me with homework. She showed me how powerful a caring teacher can be.

What would you do with the $25,000?
I would use the funding to expand hands-on science experiences for students at my school. I would purchase lab materials, interactive science tools, and resources that allow students to explore real-world investigations. I would also enhance our classroom environment with more opportunities to observe living organisms so students can experience science in meaningful and memorable ways.
