A whole year of being your mom. The days look quite different now, but in such an amazing way. I get to watch you grow, see you explore the world, catch glimpses of the little boy you will become and my life is even more enriched for it. These days have taught me to slow down, go with the flow, and take the small wins while I try to soak in this sweet, short time of babyhood with you.
Creating art has taken a bit of a backseat as I have navigated my first year of motherhood. I’ve traded my studio for a nursery, my easel for a crib and my brushes for toys and mountains of board books. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I try to catch snippets of time to create. These are usually hunched over the daybed, that has quickly become my makeshift desk, as Henry plays behind me. It has been difficult not to get fully into the creative flow as tiny hands grab at my pencil but I know one day all too soon I would give anything to go back to this time when my son was just a baby.
If you’ve been following my stories you know I’ve made quite a few life changes since I last posted. We no longer live in San Antonio, but have found a beautiful spot in the Texas Hill Country where we can walk to the Colorado river and have daily encounters with tons of wildlife! It has honestly been so inspiring and nourishing for my soul to be this close to nature. I have also scaled back at my full time job to stay home with Henry so I won’t have any cool fieldwork photos or stories to share for quite a while!
Anyways, thank y’all for sticking around as I navigate this new chapter in my life. It means the world to me!
