PROJECT SUMMARY
The Devil’s Compass is an intense, atmospheric supernatural slasher set deep in the Texas backwoods. A group of friends embarks on a camping trip, unaware that they’ve stepped into the hunting ground of The Compass Man — a mysterious, undead killer marked by an ancient curse. As paranoia rises, buried secrets, romantic tensions, and betrayals erupt, causing the group to turn on one another. In this environment of mistrust and fear, their arguments distract them from the real danger stalking them in the shadows… until it’s too late.
This film combines the tense group dynamics of The Thing with the relentless slasher terror of Friday the 13th, adding supernatural mythology and emotional character depth.
MAIN CHARACTERS (AUDITION ROLES)
Colby – 20s, Any Ethnicity, Lean/Athletic Build
Kind-hearted but guarded. The unintentional center of a love triangle between Alex and Noah. Intelligent, resourceful, and has a quiet bravery that emerges under pressure. Has an understated charm that draws people to him, but also makes him a target for jealousy.
Alex – 20s, Any Ethnicity, Close Friend Type
Best friends with Noah, but their friendship strains when they both fall for Colby. Emotional, outspoken, and quick to confront, Alex struggles to balance survival instincts with personal feelings. Often tries to be the peacekeeper but lets jealousy cloud judgment.
Noah – 20s, Masculine Bi Guy, Any Ethnicity
Alex’s best friend, secretly crushing on Colby. Confident, flirty, and unafraid to make moves even if it causes friction. Competitive by nature. In the chaos of the killer’s hunt, his focus on winning Colby’s attention distracts from survival.
Brody – 20s, Charismatic and Cocky
The risk-taker of the group. Charming in a mischievous way, but flirts recklessly — including with Cassidy, causing tension. Thrives on adrenaline and tends to provoke others. Quick to act, slow to think, which leads to trouble.
Cassidy – 20s, Seductive and Manipulative
Has a bold, unapologetic personality. Uses charm to get what she wants and isn’t above testing boundaries — even if it means trying to cheat with Brody. Her actions create distrust among the group, adding to the chaos.
Riley – 20s, Strong-Willed and Sharp-Tongued
Practical and protective, but has a low tolerance for nonsense. Speaks her mind and often calls out other people’s bad decisions. Can be confrontational, but genuinely cares about the group’s survival.
Maya – 20s, Empathetic but Anxious
The emotional core of the group. Easily rattled by conflict and violence, but willing to help anyone in need. Her fear makes her vulnerable, but also relatable.
SUPPORTING CHARACTERS
Megan – 20s, Close friend to Maya, warm and supportive.
Mikey – 20s, Light-hearted, comic relief but struggles when things turn dark.
Earl Jenkins – 50s–60s, Rugged and gruff, a local with cryptic warnings about the woods.
Eli Jenkins – Teen (16–18), Curious and adventurous, ignores warnings.
Henry Jenkins – 50s–60s, Earl’s brother, more quiet but equally superstitious.

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR
“This is not just a body-count slasher. It’s a story about paranoia, betrayal, and how petty conflicts can cost lives when facing a true evil. I want actors who can bring raw emotion to moments of fear, rage, heartbreak, and desperation because the killer isn’t the only threat in this story. The real danger is how the group turns on itself.”
