(also known as Freedom Day) is observed on Friday, June 19, 2026. This federal holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, specifically marking the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation.

In coming days — honoring 🌈 we’re releasing a lyric video of “Note to Quinn” from “Sumatra” “Quinn” is a love letter to a friend who died young of AIDS a generation ago and catalogs many things he’s missed. It’s our first effort and is driven. ❤️❤️❤️

We learned today for 2nd month in a row album “Sumatra” is on Folk Alliance International Folk DJ Chart. As independent artists we know how hard it is to be seen and heard. Thanks to all who’ve spun us and all of y’all out there listening to noncommercial radio! Please support ! Special shoutouts to 91.3 KBCS where we had a recent in-studio and Folk on WFMT - The Midnight Special and Folkstage that premiered our first single released from “Sumatra!” PS. EVERYONE can help us by simply asking your local public radio station to play a song from “Sumatra!”
