Created over the span of my pregnancy, this piece holds nine months of transformation, uncertainty, resilience, and awe. During that time, I learned my umbilical cord had only one artery instead of two, and I navigated gestational diabetes — reminders of both the fragility and extraordinary power of the human body.

This work carries all of it: the tension, the reverence, the becoming. A deeply personal piece exploring metamorphosis, shifting identity, and the profound life changes that reshape us from the inside out.

“Thinking of Halmeoni” is on its way to a new collector’s home in New York!
This piece was born from memory—from summers when my grandmother braided my hair with firm, practiced hands.
Each tug of hair was precise, tight, and unrelenting—a quiet language of love I came to understand over time.
It wasn’t gentle, but it was hers—woven with care, strength, and tradition.
Now, those memories travel onward, woven in each layer of this work.

I was so impressed with the hoodoo formations in Bryce Canyon! Weaving my way through the canyons, I felt so tiny and insignificant beneath a massive cathedral of Earth etched over millions of years. What an incredibly inspiring and humbling experience 🌎

This work reveals itself uniquely from every angle, subtly evolving as though quietly breathing—alive within stillness. Through layered wool and jute, it engages with light and space to dissolve boundaries between structure and softness. It encourages a thoughtful exploration of the enduring dialogue between form and perception.
