Thank You, Amanda 🫶🏻🧂

Before season 14 commences, we wanted to thank the incredible Amanda Colangelo for her incredible work directing our sister company SALT2 for the past 2 seasons. Amanda was a thoughtful leader and caring mentor to each and every one of the dancers that were a part of the company during her tenure, and we will absolutely feel her generous impact in the season ahead. 🥹✨

We were so fortunate to champion her choreographic work in addition to her directing from two different works for SALT2 In Concert and a creation for our LINK Audition Festival and Workshop which you can see in the following slides. Her movement language has truly been cemented in SALT’s identity and we have loved watching her develop her choreographic voice. 🙂‍↕️👏🏼

This isn’t the last you will see of her so stay tuned, but today we celebrate everything Amanda has built with SALT2 during her time. We love you Amanda! ❤️

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Teresa Castaneda ⚡️

There are those dancers who are able to become a different person when they are onstage and while Teresa may be a soft soul, she is absolutely electric when she takes on any piece of movement material. Her ability to meld the qualities of grace and grit in a single phrase is unlike anything we have ever seen here at SALT. 🧂

Teresa is a true giver. Giver of time, attention, and energy when you need it most, being one of the most selfless people we’ve met. She has an incredible talent in being there for others. 👏🏼

Her tenacity and dedication took her so far this season and we know that will only continue to serve her in the future. Teresa is a gift in many many ways and we feel lucky to have seen her perform so beautifully this season. ✨

Teresa, we love you so much and thank you for an amazing season! 🫶🏻

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Kannen Glanz 👏🏼

From making some of our most iconic social media content to date to eating up the stage up through his dancing, Kannen Glanz’s nuanced and passionate creative practice has truly blossomed throughout Season 13. 📸🧂

Kannen is the type of dancer to cherish every moment while he is onstage and offers the audience something new every single performance. He is always looking to further his artistry and that drive and dedication has been nothing short of exceptional. ⚡️😍

While you see him on stage, you may also see him with his camera and mics working closely with our Marketing Director, Myles Tracey to showcase SALT on Instagram and TikTok. His passion for SALT flows through anything he might post or dance for SALT. 💐✨

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Mia Huber 💐

If you ever thought you met kindness personified it probably was our very own Mia Huber (mia huber🦋). Every single fiber of Mia’s being is laced with grace, love, and beauty and that applies to both her dancing and outside of it. Mia is like a warm campfire you need on a cold and gloomy night. ✨

Mia’s tenacity and drive this season demonstrated through the various tracks she danced, and a special highlight being Artistic Director Amy Gunter’s solo in Ching Ching Wong’s The Shelf Life. Mia took charge of the work and made it her own, bringing passion and excellence to even the tiniest details. 🧂

Mia blossomed this season in many many different ways and it was so special to watch that take shape throughout the season. You are so dear to our hearts Mia and we love you so much. 🫶🏻

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Maxi Riley 🔥

Where do we even begin with the queen and mother of the company, Maxi Riley (Maxi Riley)? Maxi is truly a powerhouse when it comes to her work here at SALT. Her emotional capacity, compelling physicality, and the humanness she brings to the stage were all so palpable this season. 🧂🥹

Maxi is one of the most reliable dancers out there, as her ability to memorize choreography and counts is faster than an F1 driver. She always had the answers to any question someone might have had. 🫶🏻✨

Maxi is a gift here at SALT and watching her onstage, teaching during our educational programs, and even choreographing at LINK 2026 was the most beautiful sight to see. 👏🏼⚡️

Maxi, we thank you for all you do at SALT and we love you endlessly! 🫂

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Jayda Escobar 🫂

Tonight we share the gorgeous Jayda Escobar (Jayda Escobar), who always knew how to make the rest of the company laugh and smile. ⚡️👏🏼

Jayda’s ability to try on all kinds of movement vocabularies this season and perform them with care and honesty was incredible to witness. She came into each process, whether it was a new creation or existing repertoire, with openness and truly danced it down. 🙂‍↕️🔥

Jayda never waivers and always steps up to any challenge presented to her, and she does with the best attitude. Jayda is the type of person you love watching onstage and even love talking to off-stage. 🥹✨

Jayda, thank you for being a beautiful light and presence to anyone you are with. We love you so much. 🫶🏻

SEASON 13 FAVORITES | Quincie Bean 💐

As we continue to look at our favorite moments from this past season, we now take a look at the dancers and their incredible work.

Today we celebrate Quincie Bean (Quincie Bean), whose care and sensibility came into every moment of her dancing. She is a mover that knows no bounds and truly gives the little things so much attention. Quincie is one of those dancers and performers that takes any material given to her and breathes so much life to it, always reinvigorating the work with beauty and grace.🥹

Her presence onstage is equally as contagious in the studio. From memorizing choreography faster than anyone else to her smile that would light up any room, she gave selflessly from class to rehearsal. ⚡️

Quincie, you are a force as a dancer and mover and watching you this season was nothing short of exceptional. We love you 🫶🏻🧂

WELCOMING OUR NEW SALT2 ARTISTIC DIRECTOR | Lindsey Matheis Lindsey Matheis 🤭🧂✨

We are incredibly excited to officially share the appointment of Lindsey Matheis as the Artistic Director for SALT2. She is an incredible voice within the contemporary dance landscape and we look forward to her vision coming to life this season. 🎉💐

Read More About Lindsey Below

Lindsey Matheis (b. 1989) is a movement director, choreographer, and multidisciplinary artist working between New York City and Salt Lake City. Her practice moves fluidly between contemporary dance, opera, immersive theatre, film, and commercial work, creating physically driven narratives where movement reveals what language cannot. Drawing from nearly two decades as a performer, she approaches directing through the body first, using choreography to shape character, atmosphere, and emotional architecture.

As a choreographer, Matheis has created work for SALT Contemporary Dance, Missouri Contemporary Ballet, Northwest Dance Project, 12x12, Brigham Young University’s Contemporary Dance Theater, Chop Shop, Men in Dance, and the Experimental Film Festival. She also founded and produced three independent dance festivals in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to supporting emerging choreographers and expanding opportunities for new artistic voices.

Matheis began her performing career with Northwest Dance Project before joining BODYTRAFFIC and later spending five years with Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More. She served as rehearsal director for BODYTRAFFIC post-pandemic, dance captain for Washington National Opera, and performer for Opera Omaha, Opera Philadelphia, LA Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and Washington National Opera. Choreographers she has worked with include Danielle Agami, Baye & Asa, Anton Lachky, Barak Marshall, Alan Lucien Øyen, Crystal Pite, Arthur Pita, Ihsan Rustem, Hofesh Shechter, and Didy Veldman, amongst others. Matheis has performed internationally in venues ranging from the Hollywood Bowl to The Joyce to the Bolshoi Theatre.

Please join us in celebrating Lindsey in the comments! 🙂‍↕️

A Grain Of SALT | Residual Trace 🧂✨

Dance Novella’s (Dance//Novella) Brandon Lee Alley (Brandon Lee Alley) and Rachael Prince (Racheal) joined us last season to create “Residual Trace” for Spring 12. These two were such an incredible presence in the studio and came in every day with the most beautiful energy. 🥹💐

Today we bring you a gorgeous duet performed by Artistic Director Amy Gunter (Amy Gunter Lolofie) and Amanda Colangelo (Amanda Colangelo , who both use their focus to carefully see and listen to one another. We are so inspired by these two and everything they have brought to SALT.
