Golden Spike Train Club of Utah

Golden Spike Train Club of Utah The Golden Spike Train Club of Utah (H.O. scale). Moved August 2025 to Trolley Square History Museum, 600 East 600 South, SLC. Donations are Welcome!

Had moved January 2021 to 132 S 800 W SLC UT in the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse. HO and HOn3 Club. 100% NMRA and DCC. The club was founded in 1968 by 24 modelers from Salt Lake City & surrounding areas. The club was originally located at the Utah State Fairpark until 1984 when a change in management forced the club to search for a new venue. The club was then requested by the Children's Museum of U

tah to relocate to the basement of the Warm Springs Plunge building in 1984. But a 5.7 earthquake 3/18/2020 caused enough damage to warrant Salt Lake City Corp to declare the building temporarily unfit for any usage. The layout occupied a 20' by 50' space with a 4' viewing aisle around 2 outside walls. The design followed a "Mountain Railroad" theme representing the major railroads in Utah and surrounding areas. Portions of the layout highlighted UPRR in Weber and Echo Canyons, D&RGW in Soldier Summit and American Fork Canyon, and SP in Donner Pass. The railroad boasted 27 scale miles of mainline, with an additional 16 scale miles devoted to Narrow Gauge. The layout also sported a replica of UP's Ogden round house, 500+ car yard, engine and car repair facilities, Passenger Station and Yard, Intermodal yard etc. For a 2017 video of Hostlers Club members running on that layout, see https://youtu.be/U-cQt_gRHlo

In January 2021 we signed a multi-year lease on a 800 sq ft room from Sugar Space Arts Warehouse at 132 S 800 W, SLC where we built a new "fixed-modular" layout. We currently have 33 members and are open for new membership. Please contact us by message to find out more. We meet frequently, especially Saturday mornings. But our official meetings are every 2nd Saturday at Noon. Welcome all who like to join the hobby and Club. We our a Non-Profit 501c3 100% NMRA membership Club. Text our VP Jeremy Adams 801-631-7435 or our Secretary Mark Forslund 801-641-6586 or our Treasurer Jon Thomas 801-718-9772.

WE ARE MOVING TO TROLLEY SQUARE in AUGUST!

Our lease with Sugar Space Arts Warehouse is not being renewed beyond August due to their financial difficulties. We found that out May 10th.

So in June we secured a lease with Trolley Square to take over their Trolley History Museum room D240-D250 across from Old Spaghetti Factory on the 2nd floor, next to Desert Edge Pub.
