Submissions for the Dark Arts Festival of Utah for 2026 are now open. The Dark Arts Festival of Utah will be Friday, October 2, Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, at Area 51, located on 451 South 400 West. The submission process is fairly simple. So please follow the instructions below and become part of the Dark Arts Festival of Utah experience!
BANDS: (SUBMISSIONS WILL ONLY BE OPEN UNTIL AUGUST 31)
The email address to submit to is: [email protected]
Put the band name in the subject line. In your submission you'll need to include the names of all of the members who will be performing on stage with you, a brief description of your band as you would like it appear in any press or promotion we may do for the festival, any links to your website or whichever medium you prefer where we can preview your music!
In addition, THIS IS VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT: We require a very detailed description of your bands set-up and all the technical requirements you have for your performance (these will be forwarded to 'Uncle Sh*tty', the festival sound engineer so he can be prepared in advance to meet all your sound needs). I ask for this every year, and all too often it is ignored. Please have this information submitted by September 1st. For example: do you have a live drum kit? Do you use backing tracks from a computer or other device? How many vocal mics do you need? How many guitars do you have? How many keyboards do you have? Do you have visuals? THE MORE DETAILED INFORMATION YOU GIVE US, THE MORE WE WILL BE PREPARED FOR YOUR SOUND CHECK AND PERFORMANCE. This benefits you, us, and the audience, so please don't skimp on the details! In addition if you use any extras in your performance such as blood, elaborate props or if you have special lighting requests, please include these. Really, just let us know about anything special you would need, so that we are prepared in advance. We want everyone who participates to have the best performance possible!

Please put your name in the subject line. Please include how often you think you would be available over the week before and the days of the festival. We need all flavors of volunteers - band drivers/helpers, merch slingers, door watchers, set up and tear down helpers, and many more. There are so many tasks that we need done before and during the festival that we usually don't know what they will be until the moment we need them done. It always extremely helpful to have volunteers on hand. There will be times when as a volunteer that you'll be extremely busy and there may be times when your just waiting for someone who needs help. As a volunteer, you will have free admission for the weekend and green room access. Please let us know if there are tasks you are unable to do (such as carrying heavy equipment or climbing ladders) and also please let us know if you have a car and would be able to run quick errands (there is almost always something someone has forgotten) or make runs to hotels or the airport to pick up our out-of-state talent (these will be forwarded to Jen, the festival volunteer liaison so she can be prepared in advance to meet all your needs). Volunteers may not be in the spotlight at the festival, but they are crucial to the success of the festival and we are deeply grateful to anyone who is willing to sacrifice their time to help out!
