March 2026 // Desert sage

We drove down to goblin valley with the only goal of laying on a rock long enough to ground ourselves. Part of me hoped I could just sink into the rock slab and escape everything else I had going on and never look back.

Every slab of rock we came across had so much movement, erosion, layers shifting over time, though they’re just rocks and stand completely still. They’ve been shaped by years of weather, and will keep changing long after us.

Day to day, I feel unchanged. But when I look back, I realize I’ve become someone entirely different.

Not all growth announces itself while it’s happening. 🌾

Excited to share this series I’ve been working on the past four months. I take a lot of trips to the desert and have been working on articulating the colors and feelings I notice. This series is inspired by Goblin Valley, Utah. 💫
