Hallmark movie? Check ✔️ Commercials? Check ✔️

Huge congrats to Teresa Norvick on booking Christmas on Duty for Hallmark through a self tape submission with Stars Talent Studio.

Teresa sent in her tape and BOOKED IT. No callback. And the momentum hasn’t stopped there 👏

Teresa also booked:
• Girl Gang for Baylor Scott & White Hospital, which turned into both a commercial and print campaign, plus a 6-month renewal extension
• One Shot Energy Chews commercial through Stars Talent Studio after booking directly from a self tape

One of the best parts of Teresa’s Baylor Scott & White booking: She trusted her instincts, brought her gray wig to set “just in case,” and ended up using it for the actual shoot after production tested multiple other options!

In this industry, opportunities move fast. Your training has to already be there before the opportunity shows up.

Booking a Hallmark film off a self tape alone is pretty iconic 🎬

We love seeing our students trusting their work, putting themselves out there, and seeing it pay off.

🎬 Another booking to brag about… congrats to Barbara Reininger on booking the feature film Snow Falling on Pumpkins.

Barbara previously worked with writer/director Jeff London on Bailey’s Wonderful Life, and that continued relationship led to another opportunity in front of the camera.

Since beginning her acting journey, Barbara has continued building real momentum:
🎞️ booked the supporting role of Carla Jean in A Wonderful Life with writer/director Jeff London
🎞️ received a callback for an IHC commercial as a doctor/caregiver
🎞️ received a callback from Jeff Johnson to portray a woman with Alzheimer’s based on her work in Henry, a short film written and directed by Julie-Anne Liechty
🎞️ auditioned for a leading role through Actors Access and had a 60+ minute conversation with the director as a strong contender for the role

THIS is why actors train consistently.

You build relationships, build trust, and stay ready when opportunities come around again.

From first auditions to feature films, we love seeing our students doing the work, taking risks, and growing in real time 👏

A lot of actors are hitting their marks, saying the lines, and responding on time… but something still feels off.

Most of the time, it comes down to this → They’re reacting, not receiving.

Reacting happens fast. It’s almost automatic. But receiving takes a moment. It requires you to actually let what just happened affect you before moving forward.

When that moment is skipped, the scene can feel a little empty, even if everything looks correct on the surface.

One of the simplest ways to work on this is to allow a beat after your partner speaks. Not a pause to “act,” but a moment to actually take it in and notice what shifts in your body.

That small adjustment can completely change the depth of a scene!

If you want to explore this more and apply it to your work, you can read more in our latest blog. https://actorsinactionconservatory.com/listening-the-real-superpower-behind-compelling-acting/

Do you tend to respond right away in scenes, or do you give yourself space to actually receive first?

This is the difference you can feel immediately.

Not pushed.
Not performed.
Just real behavior, moment to moment.

It’s subtle… but it’s what separates actors who book from the ones who don’t.

If you’ve ever wondered why some auditions just hit… it’s this.

If you want to work like this, you’ll want to be in the room. Join us for class, link in bio to learn more about AIAC!

Costume isn’t just wardrobe… it’s behavior.

The second you put something on, it shifts how you move, how you hold yourself, how you exist in the scene.

And most actors barely use it.

It’s one of the easiest ways to unlock something real… without forcing anything.

If you’re skipping this, you’re leaving a lot on the table.

We explore tools like this every week inside AIAC.

If you’re tired of vague notes and no clear direction, this matters.

Joey, thank you for articulating this so clearly. 💛

“This class is different from others I’ve attended. I’m not just told to connect more or be in the moment and left to figure it out. In this class, I’m taught how to act. I’m given technique.”

That clarity changes everything. 🙌✨

One of the biggest misunderstandings in acting is thinking listening means being attentive, focused, or emotionally “ready.” But real listening isn’t mental. It’s physical.

It shows up in your body before you even choose how to respond. Your breath shifts. Your posture adjusts. Something in you changes because of the other person.

That’s what creates those moments where an actor suddenly feels real and alive on screen.

A simple way to start working this is to take a scene and focus less on your next line, and more on letting what your partner says actually land before anything else happens. Don’t rush to respond. Let it affect you first.

That space is where truth lives.

If you want to go deeper into how listening actually works and how to train it, you can read more here → https://actorsinactionconservatory.com/listening-the-real-superpower-behind-compelling-acting/

Do you find yourself planning your responses in a scene, or letting them happen in the moment?

05/06/2026

Safe choices won’t get their attention.

Directors are looking for something bold…
but it has to come from honesty, not pushing or forcing.

That’s the difference most actors miss.

When the behavior is real, the choice lands.
When it’s not… you can feel it immediately.

If you’ve been playing it safe, you’re probably getting overlooked. Just make sure you're staying with the script.

This is the kind of work we’re constantly sharpening in class at AIAC.

Most actors think they’re listening because they’re focused, paying attention, and following the scene. But real listening isn’t just mental. It’s something that happens in the body.

When you’re actually listening, your breath changes. Your posture shifts. Something in you responds before you even decide what to do next.

That’s why some performances feel alive and others feel a little controlled, even when everything technically looks right.

A simple adjustment is to stop trying to prepare your response while your partner is talking, and instead let what they’re saying actually land. Give your body a second to register it.

That’s where the shift starts to happen.

If you want to go deeper into this and how to train it, you can read more here on our blog: https://actorsinactionconservatory.com/listening-the-real-superpower-behind-compelling-acting/

Knowing why you love acting is powerful. Knowing how is everything.

Mary, thank you for trusting the process and showing up with intention. 💛

“The Actors In Action technique is simple but not easy. It’s a process anyone can learn and work on daily. It’s helped me tremendously with booking jobs and gaining confidence. I’ve always known why I wanted to act, but AIAC finally gave me the how.”

That clarity is a game changer. 🌟👏
