High school singers—thinking about studying vocal performance for college? Kayley Brinkerhoff, a National Competition and Regional Winner of the Schmidt Competition, is here to tell YOU why you should compete in the Schmidt Vocal Competition.

Apply now to compete in the Schmidt Vocal Competition regional on our campus, February 28, 2026. Top winners are eligible for up to $2,500 in cash awards plus a $4,000 matching scholarship to attend Utah and a chance to perform and compete with the nation’s top young artists at SVC Nationals!

The event will be adjudicated by top voice professionals, including the University of Utah’s Professor Julie Wright-Costa. We will also host a master class with renowned clinicians, including Professor Kirstin Chávez, head of the voice area at the U of U. Come and be a part of one of only 16 live regional competitions nationwide!
