This week we’re celebrating…

🥁 35 trips around the sun!

My biggest win this year?

Not checking every box.
Not doing everything perfectly.

Just getting to be here:
Raising babies.
Building businesses.
Creating memories.
Doing ordinary life with people I love.

35 feels pretty sweet.

Cheers to another year. 🥂

People ask why we started Photo Camper.

The answer?
Because sometimes healing looks strange.

Earlier that year, our newborn daughter spent two months in the NICU. The year after was full of surgeries, therapies, appointments, and surviving things we never imagined navigating as parents.

Then, when she was 11 months old, we bought this business.

Objectively? Exhausting, but somehow it became exactly what we needed.

Both of our jobs require screens, brains, and thinking.

Photo Camper required something different:

Showing up.
Being present.
Creating joy.

Helping people celebrate while carrying our own grief had its own kind of healing.

We know everyone is fighting unseen battles.

That’s why creating moments of happiness matters to us.

And we’ll always be grateful to the people and places that helped our family, especially Primary Children’s Hospital.

Thank you for being part of this community.

If we left work early today:

You’d find us at Hogle Zoo 🦒

Spring.
Summer.
Fall.
Winter.

We go every season.

Zoo days are basically our family reset button.

Also, their Halloween Trick-or-Treat event is on our Photo Camper Events bucket list. 👀:

Let’s skip the low-energy event and get straight to one people actually engage with.

No one wants to host a party where guests linger.

But it happens all the time when there’s nothing pulling people in.

What you actually want is simple:
✨ Guests laughing
✨ Guests connecting
✨ Guests doing something fun together

That’s exactly what happens when the Photo Camper shows up.

📸 Bring the Photo Camper to your event and watch the energy shift instantly.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Lately, one of the biggest things supporting my mental health has been getting outside.

Fresh air.
Wide open spaces.
A break from the constant “go.”

It’s easy to get caught up in work, schedules, and everything that needs to get done.

But stepping away, even for a little while, changes everything.

This season, I’m learning that rest doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it just looks like being outside, slowing down, and letting your mind catch up.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, this is your reminder to step outside for a bit.

You might be doing one thing wrong, and it could be why your event looks amazing, but doesn’t feel as fun as you expected.

You’re focusing more on how it looks than how it works.

And you’re not alone. That’s what most people are told to do
But here’s the reality: Guests don’t remember every detail; they remember what they did and how it felt.

When there’s no interaction built in, even the most beautiful events can fall a little flat.

The fix?
Start planning for experience first, details second.

Ask yourself:
“What will my guests actually do here?”

That’s why something like Photo Camper makes such a difference; it turns your event into something people don’t just attend, they jump into.

📸 And that’s what people remember.

If our business had a superpower, it would be shape-shifting.

Step inside the Photo Camper and suddenly, you’re not just yourself anymore.

You’re a superhero.
A pop star.
Royalty.
Or just a slightly more fun, carefree version of you.

There’s something about putting on a prop and stepping behind the camera that lets people drop their guard.

📸 And that’s when the best moments happen.

Not perfect.
Not posed.
Just real, playful, and a little bit magical.

If Photo Camper had a museum exhibit 🏛️

It would be:
The Museum of Well-Loved Props
or maybe…
A Collection of Moments

Because behind every photo strip is a tiny snapshot of someone’s life:

✨ a wedding day
✨ a reunion
✨ a night with friends
✨ a moment of pure silliness

Thousands of people. Thousands of stories. And we got to be a small part of each one.

In our museum, we’d never run out of things to display. 📸

Something that used to stress me out?

Planning the perfect party (occasionally it still stresses me).

But over the past couple of years, I’ve realized something:

I deserve to enjoy the party too. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Now, when I plan something, I pick 2–3 things that matter most to me and focus on them: decor, food, activities, location, etc.

If I start to feel overwhelmed, I go back to those basics and remind myself that everything else is just extra.

And it’s made everything feel lighter and parties way more fun!

I dare you to try one bold thing this week.

Let a part of yourself out that you usually keep hidden.

Maybe it’s your sense of style.
A hobby that feels a little “silly.”
A creative side you don’t show people.

I dare you to let someone see it.

Because here’s the thing, when people step into the Photo Camper, that side comes out naturally.

They talk about their favorite childhood superhero.
They joke about being royalty.
They get a little goofy.

And it’s so fun.

There’s something about dressing up that helps us let our guard down.

So this week? Let yourself be seen, even just a little.
