Here’s Pattern 2 of the B natural minor scale 🎸

The notes are:
B C # D E F # G A

For this pattern, pay close attention to the notes on the higher strings. That’s where a lot of melodies and lead ideas can start to open up.

Practice the full shape slowly first so you know where the notes are. Once it feels comfortable, pick 3–5 notes from the pattern and turn them into a small lick.
Keep it simple: repeat a note, change the rhythm, add a slide, or leave a little space between notes.

Here’s an easy way to make a common chord progression sound less predictable. 🎸

Instead of starting with a regular I chord, it starts with Isus4!
That sus4 chord gives the progression a more open, unresolved sound before it moves into the rest of the chords.

Same progression idea, just with a different feel.
Pick one key, loop it and focus on clean changes first.
Then change the rhythm, add some techniques, and make the progression your own. 🤘

Here’s Pattern 1 of the B natural minor scale 🎸

The notes in B natural minor are:
B C # D E F # G A

In scale degrees, that gives you:
1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7

Start slow and make sure each note is clean. Since this pattern is 3 notes per string, try practicing it as eighth-note triplets with a metronome.

Keep the rhythm steady before you try to speed it up. If the timing falls apart, slow it back down.
Practicing it this way helps build cleaner technique, better timing, and a stronger feel for the scale.

Here’s Pattern 7 of the A natural minor scale 🎸
Since this is a 3-note-per-string pattern, it works really well for practicing eighth-note triplets.

🎵 Try this: play it with a metronome and accent the first note of each string. That helps you feel where the beat lands instead of just flying through the notes.
Once it feels clean, reverse it and work the pattern descending too.

That kind of practice helps your picking, rhythm, and fretboard knowledge all at the same time.

A sus4 chord changes one note from the regular chord, which gives it a more unresolved sound before the progression moves on.

🎵 Here are all of the C major triad shapes together.
This is where triads start to get really useful.

Instead of looking at each string set by itself, you can compare all of them and start seeing how the same 3 notes — C, E, and G— repeat across the fretboard in different shapes.
That’s a big step, because now you’re not just memorizing isolated forms. You’re starting to see how the chord connects across the neck. 🎸
