Emotional

This painting was inspired by the journey we experience from pain to healing. The tears symbolize release, the bold colors represent the pain, while the vibrant colors reflect hope, renewal, and transformation. Through this piece, I wanted to express that even in our deepest struggles, healing is possible. It is a reminder that brokenness can be transformed into strength, beauty, and new life.

Angel

This photo was actually a portrait I volunteered to do for an old coworker. I used to be a fryer, pizza cook, and grill cook at a restaurant, and every single day I worked, I got to work with Angel. Angel made my crappy days better every single time without fail. His humor, his smiles, and his low, raspy voice always cheered me up. I had recently got back into portraits again due to having some commissioned ones, and I had extra time on my hands, so I offered to draw one for Angel. He sent me a reference photo of him when he was a bit younger, when he honestly looked like a Mexican John Wick, and I thought it was the badass. I actually started drawing the portrait in the restaurant when we weren't busy, using a mechanical pencil and a Sharpie.
Coming back into art again by commissions wasn't ideal because I don't like doing things for money, but it was refreshing to do this just for fun for Angel, because in the end, I got to return the smiles he gave to me back to him when he saw the portrait. I do art because I am more intrigued in the reaction and the feelings created when seeing the art rather then the art itself.

Buck

This 11x14" oil painting was inspired by a picture captured on a trail camera. It was taken at our cabin located in Lava Ranch in Southeast Idaho. The environment is lush with aspen trees, pines, and wildflowers native to the area (yarrow, lumpens, indian paintbrush, and columbine), to name a few. Bucks like this are illusive and not seen very often. This 8-point's antlers were still in velvet in the spring, making this picture even more special.... a perfect moment captured for wildlife lovers to enjoy.
