When the Lines Go Down

When the Lines Go Down True stories, told live, by you. Everyone has a good story. Not everyone knows it. Here's the premise:

Each story night we'll run a theme. Come down.

When the Lines Go Down is a Salt Lake group dedicated to the craft of the story and the lessons we learn from it. This is where we'll post events and hold public discussions about everything around it. Ideas for story night themes, how to cultivate your story, anything you want to talk about. You'll have five minutes to tell us a story on that topic. This is NOT a poetry slam. We want to hear your

true stories. Participate, rehearse a story, judge a story, listen in. Story Nights begin Sunday, January 8th. Signup will be from 5:30 until 6:30. Stories begin promptly at 6:30. Consider this brought to you, lovingly, by these awesome folks
Alivia Huffman
Brook Martinez
Donavin Girard
Kate Kelly
Stephanie Novak
Leland McCarthy. Also, we've had some darn fine help from
Phill Faber for promotion and Nic Rodriguez for being our resident work-for-wine artist.

We're thinking our next night of story telling will focus on music. Are you an audiophile like us?

03/27/2012

Hey story tellers, sorry we've been down for a while. We're taking some time to get things ready, assemble a street team (hint hint), put together new themes, and come up with some extra cash to do all of the above. We'll be back and better than ever.

While we figure out rescheduling the Planes, Trains, and Automobiles night - we'd like to take suggestions from you on the story topics you'd like to hear! GO!

Tonight's event is cancelled. Sorry folks. A large group of Chinese businessmen have reserved more or less the whole joint.

Today & everyday - we LOVE stories of the human experience. Those fated moments on the candy aisle, the Jesus love triangle, the little mistakes we all make - that is the stuff of life and love! Happy Valentines Day people!

Also, congratulations to our winner (and first time story teller), Symmer Andrews. She captivated us all with her ill fated love on the candy bar aisle. Nice goin'!

Last night's stories were filled with tenderness, joy, laughs & a lot of F-bombs. Thanks to everyone who shared a story or just enjoyed the show! Next up - stories of moving.

Congratulations to Jesse Fruhwirth and his harrowing tale of hormonal interactions with poison oak. Thanks to all of you for turning out.. It was a small crowd, but a spectacular one!

We'll be back two weeks in February. First, Shot Through the Heart: Stories of Beaus and Arrows. See what we did there? Hehe.

Look forward to seeing you on the 12th and 19th!

01/24/2012

A bit overdue are our congratulations to our co-champions. Brandon Barker and R.J. Walker captivated the crowd with two of the most graphic stories we've heard thus far.

And yet again, a huge thanks to everyone for turning out. Let's do it again next week, yeah?

01/20/2012

In the spirit of community, and the bitter irony of our theme this week; we'll be giving everyone's donations to the Sarah Burke fund. Tell your friends and donate generously, please.

Congratulations to Tomas Fernlund for his epic story of trafficking fruit across international borders!

A big thanks to everyone who turned out tonight and partook in the stories in any way. Can't wait to see you all next week for your accident stories.
