This will be a little long but needs to be said.

It's with a heavy heart I write to all my supporters and players of "Jazz at the Rabbit Hole"! At this point in time the owner of Lake Effect has decided to move forward without Me, Kelly Salmans, and bring in another band on Wednesday nights, this is not my band / booking! I'm sure it's not a listening room anymore.

I do not yet feel safe reopening the room under the Covid issues. We have already lost one of our best players, Isaiah Smith, (and so many others around the world) and I could not live with myself if we lost anyone under my watch. The guidelines are still 50% capacity and lets face it, it's a small room that is what's so great about it!

As most of you know I have worked long and hard for over 6 years now trying to create a real "Jazz Listening Room" here in Salt Lake City. In the past couple of years with the help of the owners and staff of LE we finally accomplished that! Also, With the help of some local world class players we were able to bring other world class players!

With that in mind there are some players I want to thank for all their help in this quest! I know I will leave some out and I apologize but first and for most the Professors of our great state colleges, Corey Christinsen, David Halliday, Philip Kuehn, Jay Lawrence, Alex Heitlinger, Kris Johnson, John Petrucelli and soooo many others, just take a look at the photos and Events! Players like Carl Allen, Joe Saylor, Sean Jones, Jon Hamar, Emanuel Harrold, Lauren Kinhan, Rosana Eckert, and soooo many more! With out our jazz community non of this would have happened! I can not thank you all enough for your support.

Moving forward we shall see what happens, stay tuned.

Today the music world and Salt Lake City lost a great musician and by far a beautiful loving caring human being! There’s a big hole left here in our jazz scene with the loss of You will be missed my friend RIP!

I am in shock!
We just lost a mountain of a man, one of the kindest gentleman of a giant! I will miss that big hug and infectious smile! Rest In Peace Isaiah 🙏😭

This morning I woke to a pleasant surprise. listed me as one of their 9 most talented black musicians you should support! I’m happy, excited, thrilled and humbled to be mentioned amongst such lofty company. Thank you and congratulations to all my colleagues who made this list with me. Together we are proving that 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
