Our first ever Community Gallery takedown party was on Friday! A room full of photographs, familiar faces, new friends, and the people who make this community what it is.

Thank you to everyone who submitted work, came by, brought a friend, stayed awhile, and helped us celebrate another Community Gallery. Getting to put your photographs on our walls and then watch the room fill up around them is something we’ll never get tired of.

We’re so grateful to be a small part of such a creative, curious, film-loving community here in Salt Lake City.

Our August Community Gallery is coming to a close, and we’re celebrating the photographers who filled our walls with one final night together.

Join us Friday, August 28 from 6–8 PM at Essential Photo Supply to meet the photographers, spend some time with the work, have a drink + a snack, and grab a print before the gallery comes down.

All remaining gallery prints will be available for purchase throughout the night- a chance to take home a piece of the show and directly support the artists behind it.

Free + open to everyone. Bring your friends, come hang out, and help us give this month’s Community Gallery a proper send-off.

Ogden film shooters, this one’s for you 🤝

Did you know you can drop your film off with us in Ogden?

Our film drop box lives inside the Weber State Wildcat Store downtown, so you can send your rolls our way without making the trip to Salt Lake.

Just scan the QR code, fill out your order, label your film, and drop it in the box - we’ll take it from there. Film is picked up from the Ogden box every Monday and brought back to our lab for processing + scanning.

And if you need to stock up while you’re there, the Wildcat Store also carries film + cameras 📷

It’s one thing to see a photograph on your phone. It’s another to stand in front of a print.

Our community gallery is up, and we’d love for you to experience it in person. While you’re here, you might even find a piece you can’t leave without! Most of the prints are available for purchase.

This month, we’re doing our gallery a little differently and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

We’ve filled our walls with twelve photographs from six photographers whose film came through our lab. Each image offers a different perspective, but together they tell the story of the community that makes this place so special.

Just a crew of lab nerds at the International Printing & Imaging Conference (IPIC). 🤝📷

We spent the last couple of days learning about film processing, printing, scanning, color management, and the future of photo labs. We came home with fresh ideas, new connections, and plenty of inspiration to keep making Essential even better.

Thanks to everyone who shared their knowledge, we can’t wait to put it into practice!
