I decided to experiment with an abstract background for this one 🎨 this is the first one I've made/finished in the new year! I started her just after midnight on New Year's Eve 🌕 Feels right to finish her just after the Lunar New Year has rolled in!

My piece "Euphoria" will be up at the Spring Juried Student Exhibition at the U! I mirrored the scars on this piece after my own top surgery scars, so it's a really special one to me and I'm so excited to have it shown along with the work of my peers.

Started out the year in the cheekiest way possible 🍑🌕 the bubbles were tons of fun. I made them using silver iridescent paint, watered down rainbow acrylics, and an essential oils bottle cap 🖌️

Another new piece that you'll see tomorrow titled Post Mortem.

The figure is from an old horror movie anthology and is a dead body on an operating table, while the butterflies are from a Nat Geo.

This one sat on the floor of my bedroom as a partially completed work until right before I went in for surgery and said "Aha! A death and rebirth always needs gold leaf" 🍁🍂

I had originally planned on having it framed in an orange or black frame, but was delightfully surprised at the effect that the dark green had on bringing it all together 💚

I've been joking through the whole recovery about how I've felt like a little caterpillar who entered into a cocoon and turned into goo. This weekend will be my last weekend of recovery, and then I will emerge as a beautiful little butterfly!!

One of my newest pieces is one that burst out of me as soon as I got back to the studio post top-surgery recovery

The scars are modeled after my own scars, which I lovingly and delicately recreated on the form of Dionysus with gold leaf🍷 Fun fact: Dionysus is often considered a genderqueer God by many modern day pagans and Hellenic worshippers alike 🌈 I think he would approve, if he were around to be asked
