This season, q***r identity takes center stage.
Our Fall Utah Q***r Film Festival Year-Round lineup explores stories of the struggle for identity through desire, family, and the fight to be seen and understood.

🎥 CRUISING — William Friedkin’s controversial 1980 gay leather slasher, presented with support from Salt Lake City Leather Pride.

🎥 IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILDREN + LE***AN CUSTODY — A powerful pairing connecting a groundbreaking 1977 documentary about le***an mothers fighting for custody with a contemporary film reflecting on its legacy nearly 50 years later.

Playing tomorrow! The Pat you remember, but a story you’ve never heard.

WE ARE PAT brings together q***r and trans comedians, writers, and performers—including Julia Sweeney—to revisit Pat, the iconic androgynous SNL character, and explore what the character means in a new era of trans visibility.

Funny, thoughtful, and deeply relevant, this documentary asks whether we can reclaim a character without erasing the complicated history behind them. Featuring a Q&A with Director Ro Haber!

📅 Tomorrow, August 19 @ 7 PM
📍 Utah Film Center

Presented as part of our Utah Q***r Film Festival Year-Round series and proudly supported by Utah Film Center’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program.

35 years after the androgynous SNL character Pat first appeared on screen, WE ARE PAT brings together q***r and trans comedians and writers—including Julia Sweeney—to reckon with the character through the lens of today’s trans visibility.

What begins as a debate becomes an unexpected opportunity to reclaim Pat, not by erasing them, but by transforming a character once built on ridicule into one of empowerment.

WE ARE PAT is presented as the part of our UQFF Year-Round series and proudly supported by Utah Film Center’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program.
