Behind the scenes, we're busy stirring the cauldron:
• Writing this year's script
• Casting the perfect suspects
• Finalizing dinner plans with the restaurant
• Arguing over which terrible joke absolutely must stay in the show

Tickets aren't on sale yet, but Halloween season is officially underway at Salty.

Since this is our only show of the year, we know some of you start counting down before summer is even over.

We’re still here… just a little more exclusive these days.

Salty Dinner Theater is officially a once-a-year experience, and trust us, we save all the drama for October.

Our Halloween show is our biggest, boldest, most unhinged production of the year… and it’s the only time you’ll catch us on stage.

Miss it, and you’ll have to wait a whole year to solve the next mystery with us.

Some of the best lines happen backstage. Some of the best reactions happen at the table. And some of the best stories? Probably shouldn’t be repeated in public.

That’s the magic of dinner theater.

Fun fact: You’re not supposed to whistle backstage.

Back in the day, stagehands used coded whistles to cue flying scenery. One wrong tune and you might accidentally drop a backdrop… or a sandbag… or your dignity.

So if you hear silence behind the curtain, it’s not tension.

It’s self preservation.

At Salty Dinner Theater, we keep the drama on stage and the whistling in the parking lot.

Every real theater leaves a single light glowing on stage when the building is empty.

It’s called a ghost light.

Some say it keeps the spirits happy.
Some say it keeps actors from walking straight into the orchestra pit.

The practical answer? Safety.
The theatrical answer? Obviously ghosts.

We support both explanations.

At Salty Dinner Theater, we appreciate a good superstition. We also appreciate good lighting, dramatic tension, and that moment when the plot twist hits harder than expected.

The only thing that should haunt you here is realizing you should’ve ordered dessert.

🎭 Meet the Owner (aka the reason Salty exists) 🎭

If Salty Dinner Theater were a personality, it would be Mary.
Bold. Creative. Slightly unhinged (in the best way).

Back in 2010, she helped launch Salty with A Christmas Carol… and instead of stopping there, she said, “What if theater was fun, interactive, a little chaotic, and came with dinner?”
And honestly? Iconic.

Since then, Salty has served up fairy tales, horror, mysteries, Valentine’s drama, Santa sightings, prom nights, and more—spreading from one restaurant in Sandy to stages all over the Wasatch Front.

Mary’s thing:
✨ Big energy
✨ Full houses
✨ Strong women-led teams
✨ Giving back (hello benefit shows!)
✨ Making sure theater never takes itself too seriously
✨ And creating a space where artists actually get to have fun

Salty isn’t a business. It’s a passion project. And Mary is the reason it works.

So yes, you probably already know her… but consider this your official reminder to appreciate the woman behind the madness. 🧂🎭
