Q: What time do you turn the lights on? A: That’s the plan!

A: The lights are on a timer that will turn them on daily. The hours change based on the season They will be updated in the hours section. They automatically turn off during heavy rain or snow. Q: How long did it take & how many lights? A: It took 2 guys 44 hours to put 21,500 LED lights on the tree! Q: What’s your power bill? A: They’re efficient LED lights and don’t cost much at all! Q: Are you

leaving it up? We’ll add to it and maintain it yearly. Q: Will you put a star on it? A: No, I’m worried wind might blow a star off. We’d also have to rent a lift again to take it down. Plus, it’s scary up there! Q: What's with the name:
A: We decided she needed a name, and what better than Liberty Tree SLC since we are in Liberty Wells, just down the street from Liberty Park, and “Liberty” is just a good, posititve, inspiring word! We also wanted to honor all the trees lost in the windstorm. I’m so grateful that this beautiful tree is still standing! Hope it brings a smile to all who see it! Feel free to come on by for a look!

Liberty Tree SLC Update!
Great news! The Liberty Tree, aka the tallest living lit tree in Utah, will be lit up a few surprise evenings this holiday season!
I (Maile) am the previous owner, and sold the house in May.
All 28,000 lights are still on the tree, but even just lighting them is a quite a chore and an expense!
The awesome new owner wants to support as best she can.
Neighbors and friends [please look out for nights where the lights are lit up and spread the word so that others can enjoy it too!

The moon was on point for our event last night! Even looking like a star on top of Miss Liberty at times. Thanks to a few guests that shared these magical pictures with us!

We plan to send out pictures with Santa, Batman, Robin, Catwoman and Nightwing later in the week.

I’m pleased to announce that Miss Liberty has survived the first snowstorm of the season with no injuries! And she sure does look extra pretty covered in sparkling snow! ❄️🎄❄️

If you remember this time last year it was another story. Snow caused so much damage that it took 4 days and many amazing volunteers to clean, graft, trim, and load trailers full of broken branches.

UPDATE: Miss Liberty Tree is in good spirits! She lost 3 large branches and Kye has spent the last 3 days trimming to take more weight off and keep her from more damage. The lights are in the process of being put back on. She probably won’t be 100% in time for Santa, Olaf, Anna, and Kristoff’s visit and our fundraiser bakesale event on Monday but things are heading in the right direction!
HUGE thanks to Ozzy Guevara and Jimmy Potter for all your help with trimming and branch removal! You are our heroes!

The lights will be off for a few days as we add an additional 7500 lights, for a total of over 27,000 lights!
Just in time for Monday’s event!

3 years ago we had 18 strands of lights, 2 projectors, & 7 extension cords….
Now we’ve got 21,500 lights on our 65 ft tree, the tree has a name and a page, meteor shower lights, snowflakes, iridescent deer, various snowmen, sleighs, gifts, and assorted animals running amok, and so many extension cords I’m surprised we haven’t caused a blackout!
Kye has transformed from the Grinch to Clark Griswold and I’ve come to embrace my love of adding to the collection.
