SPIRITUAL TOOL
The way I was taught to pray felt closer to reciting than connecting.
As I became familiar with other traditions, I began to see that there are many ways to pray—and no right way to do it. Some don’t even call it prayer at all. And yet, across traditions, there seems to be a shared practice: gratitude, an appeal for guidance, and love.
Today, my prayer life looks more like a quiet conversation that unfolds throughout the day—when someone needs the kind of help I can’t offer, when I feel thankful, when I need something (patience!), or simply when I need someone to listen. This shift has changed the way I move through the world. It isn’t polished. It’s often rushed and distracted. But it’s real.
I created Strand to be something I could carry with me—a tool to help me pause, focus, and access a deeper connection, even if only for a moment. There’s something powerful about holding beads shaped by human hands, moving from one to the next, and letting them hold the weight of what’s on my mind. I hope they will do the same of you.
