On view now. Reeve Schley: Interiors and Still Lifes

Interiors and Still Lifes showcases an early series of work by Reeve Schley created between 1968-2005 portraying everyday objects and spaces utilizing his acclaimed limited palette.

On view now in The Bridgehampton Museum! A Line, A Shape, A Tool, a group exhibition featuring William Corwin, Pooneh Maghazehe, Russell Maltz, and Sun You! Previously presented at Geary, the exhibition is now on view at the Bridgehampton Museum’s Tractor Barn, bringing together four artists whose work explores the possibilities of contemporary sculpture.

Join Will Heinrich this Sunday for a reading of his fable “A line, a shape, a tool” which inspired the exhibition at Bridgehampton Museum and Geary Contemporary. He is a novelist, essayist, and journalist, currently covering art for the New York Times. He will also read selections from his newest book “From Darkness to Darkness”.

Opening tomorrow, October 1 for a VIP Press Preview. We are thrilled to be sharing work by William Corwin and Henry Klimowicz at SPLIT LEVEL!

Founded by gallerist and artist Jaqueline Cedar, the fair brings together exhibitors exploring varied approaches to sustaining ambitious programs—from nomadic and experimental spaces to established commercial galleries and independent dealers. Hosted throughout Rimadesio New York’s showroom, participating exhibitors will create site-responsive presentations that move beyond the conventions of standardized fair booths.

Courtney Puckett, The Elementals
For the last decade, Puckett’s Character series – large scale sculptures serving as metaphors for surrogate bodies with names that suggest occupational or social roles such as The Gardener, and The Caretaker, have explored the understanding of our human footprint over time through their foundation of found objects and textiles, materials that life constantly puts in our way.

In addition to her sculpture practice, The Elementals will also showcase Puckett’s collages and a recent series of short animations. These animations trade physical tactility for the possibility of the digital space to offer each piece a temporary world — a place where the “Characters” can reveal what they do, why they exist, and where they might go next.

Reeve Schley: Interiors and Still Lifes
Born in New York City in 1936, Schley is best known for his atmospheric and evocative landscapes and portrayals of people at leisure. In addition to natural scenes of the American and Canadian Northeast – Schley landscapes executed on-the-spot at beaches and riversides depicting picnics, tennis games and sunbathers. Working with a limited palette, his ephemeral oils and watercolors capture moments of serenity both in nature and amongst friends. Interiors and Still Lifes will showcase an early series of work by Reeve Schley created between 1968-2005 portraying everyday objects and spaces utilizing his acclaimed limited palette.

Geary is thrilled to showcase a solo booth at NADA Miami exhibiting the work of Brooklyn based, interdisciplinary artist, Tura Oliveira.

Tura Oliveira’s work explores craft, science fiction and identity. They make paintings, narrative quilts, and sculptures that recall early Renaissance frescoes, internal organs, grotteschi, humanoid hybrids, egg sacs, and tropical creepers with tentacles outstretched. Deeply informed by the legacies of q***r craft, science fiction, and Latin American textile art, Oliveira is invested in the interplay between marginalized identities, aesthetics, fictions, and material cultures.

Geary’s booth at NADA Miami will showcase recent textile work created during their Silver Art residency in conversation with sculpture and works on paper.

We are thrilled to present a conversation with Summers Moore at the gallery on Saturday, September 19 at 4PM to discuss her solo exhibition, Lobitos, Pueblo Fantasma. Refreshments will be served. RSVP to [email protected].

Lobitos: Pueblo Fantasma showcases a compelling look at the life of a small Peruvian fishing village that has undergone many identities. Moore captured these images while visiting her daughter’s equine therapy ranch in Lobitos.
