SHADY GROVE RECREATION DISTRICT formed by interested citizens of the Shady Grove community,is a political subdivision of the State of Louisiana , domiciled in Bienville Parish. Bienville Parish School Board leased unto Shady Grove Recreation District, the building known as "Shady Grove High School" and the land. The consideration for this lease was the improvements required of the District to make

to the premises, for occupation and utilization of programs citizens within the Recreation District. The premises may be used for by the District for the operation of and to provide programs geared to meet the interests and needs of all citizens of Bienville Parish, such as, day care for seniors citizens, hot meals, and tutorial and recreational activities for youth. The property is only to be used for the establishment of programs for the senior citizens who meet and participate in activities that will contribute positively to their quality of life, to provide a shelter where people in the area can go and feel fairly safe during storms, hurricanes, and other disasters, to establish a recreation facility that will provide organized activities for all age groups and to provide a facility where community meetings and related functions can be held.

Shady Grove Recreation’s Kids Sneaker Gala was a beautiful event on last Saturday. In todays society, young people are often labeled and casted aside and this is why I give so much of myself to them. This is why instead of talking about them in a negative way, I devote time and energy engaging them in positive activities. There were kids from Saline, Jonesboro, Pine Grove, Shady Grove and other communities who came together and had fun. We appreciate the parents who dropped their kids off and those who joined in with the kids and had fun too. I appreciate the committee who assisted with putting this gala together: Sherri Johnson, Barbara aka Beanie Jackson, Kim Venzant, Phyllis Scott, and Edger Lee Johnson. Thank you Karen Wimberly of Karen’s Kreations for the balloon arch and centerpieces. A special shout out to DJ Dub Chambers. Shady Grove knows how to “turn up”😅
