Santa Lucia Rotary had the pleasure of recognizing three outstanding students from North Salinas High School as our Students of the Month for August, September, and October! Each was nominated by their teachers for their academic achievements, leadership, dedication, and positive contributions to their school and community.

Allison Nguyen is ranked among the top 10% of her class, Allison is recognized for her strong work ethic, quiet determination, and commitment to excellence. Her teachers describe her as thoughtful, dependable, and self-motivated, always striving to improve while showing respect for others. Watch out for this star in the future!

Andy Perez – An exceptional student taking a challenging schedule of Advanced Placement courses, Andy stands out for his academic dedication, leadership, and willingness to help others. Known for his kindness, outgoing personality, and sense of humor, he generously gives his time after school tutoring fellow students and serving as a positive role model.

Danae Mendoza – A dedicated Baile Folklórico dancer for four years, Danae has demonstrated tremendous growth in confidence, leadership, and performance. Her cultural pride, positive attitude, and commitment to her community shine through her local dance performances and her role as a teacher's assistant, mentoring beginning dancers.

Congratulations to Allison, Andy, and Danae! We are proud to recognize these outstanding young people and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in the future.

Repost with pictures....This week, Santa Lucia Rotary welcomed District Governor Susan Winey, who shared how The Rotary Foundation turns our contributions into action locally and around the world.
https://www.rotary.org/
Susan highlighted three ways to give: the Annual Fund, which helps fund Rotary projects and brings resources back to our districts; PolioPlus, supporting Rotary’s worldwide effort to eradicate polio; and the Endowment Fund, helping Rotary make a difference for gene

We also awarded Anna Abad, The Unsung Hero Award, for her relentless energy and commitment to the community for the sake of just giving to the people.

It’s a great example of how Rotary connects local generosity with global impact.

This week, Santa Lucia Rotary welcomed Dave Fowler and Jonathan Amadi from the Housing Resource Center of Monterey County (HRCMC), an organization helping provide a continuum of housing resources, homelessness prevention services, and affordable housing opportunities throughout Monterey County.

Dave and Jonathan walked us through the journey a client may take, from a referral by a community agency, through assessment, housing placement, and ongoing support. HRCMC may fully or partially subsidize a lease until the client is able to assume the full rental payment.

Each client works with housing specialists and case managers who assist with:

• Finding appropriate housing
• Conducting inspections
• Negotiating rents with landlords
• Creating budgets and housing goals
• Providing monthly home visits and continued support

HRCMC is also looking for landlords willing to participate in the program and help provide stable housing for individuals and families in our community. To learn more, visit hrcmc.org or call (831) 424-9186, extension 170, and ask for Alexa.

Donations can also be made through their website at hrcmc.org.

Exciting news from our Rotary chapter! 🎉
This past month, we celebrated a meaningful passing of the torch and welcomed our new board members.
