🎨Dr. Virginia Ricard | Dunbar School Reunion
First Friday, JUNE 5 | 5-7pm
The Salina Art Center is hosting a pop-up exhibition featuring the artwork of Dr. Virginia Ricard, inspired by the legacy of the Dunbar School as both a physical space and a cultural cornerstone. Once a center of learning during an era of segregation, the school stands as a powerful symbol of perseverance, intellectual ambition, and collective identity.
Rooted in Dr. Ricard’s family values of God, Family, Education, and Service, and informed by her own school experiences and heritage, the exhibition brings together her artwork alongside historical photographs and artifacts to explore themes of education, inequality, heritage, and hope. Her work reflects on the duality of the Dunbar experience—the limitations imposed by systemic injustice, and the extraordinary strength cultivated within those walls.
