Just a friendly reminder about holiday window painting ⭐️Book early!!

First semester of Teen Art Program offered at The Sofa!

🎨A very special semester is upon us at The SOFA!
(The Studio Of Fine Arts 😉)
If you’ve ever taken a class I’ve taught or spent time with me at a community workshop, you know how much this moment means to me. I am beyond excited to finally open the doors to my own studio and share this space with you.
There are still finishing touches to come—the building exterior is next on the renovation list, along with built-in bookshelves and countertops—but even in its not-quite-finished state, The SOFA has become a beautiful, refreshing space to gather, learn, and create.
For the ⭐ inaugural semester ⭐, beginning September 15, I am thrilled to offer the Teen Art Program, open to students ages 12–18 who have an interest in art and are ready for a focused, creative studio environment. Prior formal art instruction isn't necessary; curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage are what matter most.
This program is about more than learning how to make art. It is a place for young artists to develop their skills, explore their creativity, connect with others who share their interests, and grow in confidence and independence.
Each week will bring a new experience to the studio, featuring a thoughtfully curated still life, an introduction to a local artist and a historical artist, and opportunities to explore different artistic mediums, techniques, and approaches.
Rather than simply completing a weekly craft or following a set of instructions, students will be encouraged to observe, experiment, make decisions, and develop their own creative voices.
We are creating a space where young people can spend meaningful time creating alongside their peers—learning from artists who came before them, discovering artists working in our own community, and challenging themselves to try something new.
I cannot think of a better way to begin this next chapter at The SOFA than by filling the studio with young artists who are ready to learn, create, connect, and grow.
And this is only the beginning! 🎨

If you get a chance to roam past St Paul School, check out their completed happy and bright entryway⭐️
🌱 Extra Special sensory bonus: If you get up close you can enjoy the scent of these happy Dill plants. This special only lasts about two to three weeks when the Dill dies back 🌱
(The paint is here to stay much longer thanks to quality exterior paint from our local Sherwin Williams😊)

Mural Reveal in Salem! ✨🎨

This weekend the at the Salem High School Alumni Association, the History of Salem City Schools mural was shared with many during Salem’s Alumni Weekend.

It was made possible by the generous donations from the Class of 1976. It is a very special way to honor their 50 years anniversary during America’s 250th birthday and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the celebration.
It’s hard to say which of the 11 buildings was my favorite to paint. I really enjoyed the mystery of the tricky “middle school” which actually has “high school” chiseled into the facade, but currently exists with some old Kent State signage.🙃 I thoroughly enjoyed landscaping this dreamy landscape.
So many of the buildings have been altered or demolished and required working from old photos and artwork.
I am thankful to Audrey Null for her hospitality and her expert level knowledge of ALL things Salem.
What a town treasure she is!

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Class of ‘76 for entrusting me with this special project. I spent a several weeks studying the architecture and even while painting, I learned so much about Salem’s history. It was a truly enriching experience.

Finishing this piece was a little bittersweet🥹 but stay tuned…. Audrey has more great ideas to celebrate growth in Salem up her sleeve!

Stop by Salem High School Alumni Association this Saturday to visit and check it all out! So many special memories in the cases and on the wall!

I have thoroughly enjoyed working at the Alumni Association all of July, teaming up with the Class of ‘76 to create a special gift for all to enjoy! 🎨
I am grateful for that opportunity🥰
