🎞️⚡️Holga made it to the party. 🎞️⚡️

It full on grabbed a drink, ran to the dance floor, and challenged your Aunt Gemma to a twerk off.
Lucky for us at the lab, caught all the happy chaos and had us living on that "our bffs just got MARRRRRIED" high for WEEKS. All from a couple we don't even know. She's just THAT good folks.

"Miriam and Calvin got married at the Allan House in Austin. Miriam used to work as an event manager at the venue, and it was there that she met Calvin! It was so special to capture their love story in the space where it all began.

Miriam wanted the day to feel like getting married at her grandparents' home. With odes to her parents' and grandparents' weddings sprinkled throughout the day, I wanted these photos to have that same sense of nostalgia."

If your Holga photos feel off, you’re not alone. Most first rolls come back underexposed, blurry, or… confusing. That’s the moment most people give up on the Holga. But if you learn to how the Holga sees light, handles movement, and how imperfect it’s allowed to be… you will understand her, and she will understand you 🤭

Save this for your next roll 🎞️

🤯⛰️✨ As if the existence of wasn't already enough reason to swoon over Ireland, our friends over at kicked it up to a level we didn't even know as possible.

Say what you will about "minty greens" but these golden Irish greens, this stunning landscape and a windswept couple oozing with romantic gazes will always be at the top of our favorites list.

From the photographer:

Our couple had just celebrated their wedding day the evening before, and if you know anything about an Irish wedding, you know the celebrations last long into the night. Rather than stepping away from their loved ones for an extended portrait session on the wedding day itself, they intentionally chose to be fully present with their family and friends, setting aside time the following evening for a romantic bridal portrait session at Dunseverick Castle, in Northern Ireland.

They were drawn to the idea of cliffside portraits that felt true to Ireland’s natural beauty, and we loved the opportunity to create something entirely different from their wedding day at Belleek Castle. While their wedding portraits leaned more editorial and refined, this session was inspired by cinematic storytelling and a joyful documentary approach (and let’s be real, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice adaptation, because who doesn’t love that cinematography feel!). We also drew inspiration from the 19th century painter, Homer, he does an incredible job of really pulling you into his paintings, and we desired that same feel when we captured our couple. We envisioned movement, joyful romance, and passion.

Everything about the evening felt surreal. Green hillsides, cliffs and sheep grazing along the seaside as the sun set with beautiful clear skies. If you know Ireland, you know clear skies and golden sunsets are never guaranteed, there had been consistent rain for months prior to their wedding and yet we had the most beautiful weather during Savannah and Ciaran’s whole wedding weekend.

We get this question all the time. “Do you guys process disposable cameras?” Yes. Yes we do.

Because here’s the secret: disposable cameras aren’t really “disposable”. They’re just a roll of 35mm in a plastic shell.

No special process. Just film.

Send it in like any roll and we’ll take care of the rest.

Save this for later (or send to a friend who has a box of disposables in their garage) 💛

🐶✨👞📸 Her dog has an office, and she pairs plastic cameras with Prada loafers. Plus, she shares a deeply personal story about the moment that changed it all.

If you haven't read the full story on Sarah Lord on our blog by now, we're going to have to assume you're some kind of serial killer. The evidence is mounting the longer you wait.

How to shoot a Holga without hating your photos:

➡️ Give it more light than you think
➡️ Use flash 90% of the time (yes, really)
➡️ Don’t overthink it

And most importantly, stop trying to make it perfect. It gets a lot more fun after that.

The Holga wasn’t trying to be artistic, it was trying to be affordable.

Designed in the 1980s as a simple camera for everyday family photos, it was meant to be practical, accessible, easy to use. In that sense, it failed.

By the time it arrived, 35mm had already taken over the market.

And the Holga… fell flat.

Light leaks, soft focus, almost no controls. It wasn’t what families were looking for.

But photographers saw something else. What was once a flaw, became an entire point. Instead of families, the Holga found its home in the arsenal of photographers who wanted something a little different.

Because sometimes, perfection isn’t the point.
