When we recall those crazy summer nights from our youth, perhaps no soundtrack could as vividly pull us back into the “best times most of all” than the unrivaled San Francisco-sound of Journey. Their anthemic lyrics, power ballads, scorching guitars, lush harmonies and above all, unforgettable melodies dominated the commercial music industry in the 1970s-80s and continues to resonate with the younger generations. This Sunday, August 23, at 6 pm, the Salem Summer Concert Series welcomes New Frontiers as they deliver the ultimate Journey experience, transporting the audience back to the golden era of arena rock with their high-energy performances and spot-on renditions of Journey hits. This will be the last concert of the season, and the Mahoning Valley Corvette Club will also be featured with a classic car show. Tickets will be sold for 50/50 drawings and for prizes donated by local businesses and friends of the concert series. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Jim’s Roadhouse Burgers and Beef will be serving delicious sandwiches and sides, and Totally 80’s Ice Cream Shoppe will be serving sweet treats. Parking is available at the park’s Sunset Boulevard entrance, or the Superior Avenue entrance, with limited handicap accessible parking.
