The Rootikals are a roots reggae and lovers rock band from Portland Oregon. We have been jamming in Portland for over 10yrs. We love to share our favorite hits from our favorite reggae bands but pride ourselves in sharing the music from those underground roots bands! You know, the stuff that doesn’t get played on the radio, the music you had to snag from your friends’ friend, the non pop reggae as we like to say.

Our Reggae band started with Lead Vocalist/Bassist, Michael Abang and Vocalist, Ali Kepa. Dane Lum Lo joined the core two years later on Lead Guitar. Our drummer John Abreu and Mana grace our Riddim guitarist completed our core and we’ve holding it down ever since. Over the years we’ve rotated a few musicians in and out on keys, riddim guitar, and drums, but the core as always I remained the same.

In 2018, thanks to the help of Dave Boyle at Union Sound, we were able to release our EP and currently working on the Full length set to drop later this year in 2023!
